Evening Pen, woo hoo at being smoke free :j You will do so well, especially if OH is now onboard. Are you keeping tally of what you would have spent on your supplies? Sounds like you had a good spring clean today. Its always nice when you go through your wardrobes and find things you 'forgot' its like shopping but not spending money :rotfl:
Enjoy the remainder of your wine0 -
Hey Pen,
What a lovely positive post from you, lovely
Well done on the no smoking, that's amazing and you should notice the change in finances further down the line.
In a weird way I love trips to the trip, it's amazing how nice it makes you feel when you de-clutter and sort! x0 -
Thanks Pap and Chocs, you lovely ladies keep me goingThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
What a fantastic post to log on to read. Well done on the no smoking hun
My Nan is 66 and had smoked for 50 years. She always used the excuse that at her age it wouldn't make much difference to stop (which i know isn't true) She had 'tried' a couple of times but her heart wasnt in it. Heavy smoker - about 20+ a day. One day my little cousin was round having lunch and nan moved to the conservatory as she never smoked around us. My cousin could see her through the doors and then came up to her with a bread stick between her fingers and said 'look Nanny i'm just like you'. That shocked the hell out of my Nan! She then gave up after 50 years of smoking and hasn't smoked since and that was a year ago. I am so extremely proud of her. She said her worst thing was just the habit. She would read the paper and automatically put out her hand to pick up a cigarette that wasn't there!
Good luck Pen! I'm sure you will do great! xOrange Fairy

Another week slips by ...
All going well here at Pen Towers. Still smoke free for me and DH which is soooo cool. I never thought we would do it. The difference in my positivity and my get up and go is amazing.
Spends are a bit on the high side this week. We've another teenager with us so there have been a few brekkies out and takeaways. Buts its worth it and I don't begrudge a penny of it.
My hair has been sorted and is looking lovely and blond.
Also, I've sort of treated myself again. I've just ordered a new tumble dryer (I know - its not very romantic). Ours broke about 3 years ago and I tried to keep going without one but with all the teenagers about its just not workable. I hate burning energy like this but in our little house I can't fit in enough clothes airers. So the new one is coming Tuesday and to be honest I can't wait. Its something that's been stressing me for a while and I've only sorted it now because I'm trying to put myself first. Money wise - it was an inexpensive one, I got the delivery free and I've put in on a 0% card, ready to be paid off as my second part of the debt vs 100 day challenge.
Today has been very nice. The teenagers have entertained themselves at the local skatepark all afternoon and we've all just had a Chinese take-away. They are now upstairs on the xbox or whatever and its me and DH in front of the box. Bliss
Tomorrow we are doing roast lunch out (vouchers and £2 pot) so no cooking and washing up for me
Off to nag DH to fill the wine glass! This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Ohhh glad to see you are chilling Pen. I suppose with another teenager keeping your DS busy its easy for you and your DH to have some adult time. Have fun with your dryer, we have one in our home too and yes it does eat some electricity but the avantage we get from it outweighs the extra. Plus it means our house isn't like a chinese laundry having wet washing hanging around. Hope it helps you out
Glad to see you and your DH are still smoke free, you are doing really well :j
Have a great weekend, enjoy the wine0 -
I need to get motivated with my debtbusting again as money seems to be slipping through my fingers at the moment.
So today I have sent back some clothes I purchased online in the sales as they took nearly a month to arrive and to be honest I only bought them as they were cheap. I've also returned a dress that didn't look so good when it arrived - thats over £50 not spent.
I argued with Mr A's helpdesk and got £11 refunded from last week's shop as they decided to substitute expensive wine that wasn't part of the offer. Normally I would just sit back and accept it but not any more, its poor service and they get loads of my hard earned dosh.
Todays lunch was a throw it together pot of veg and chicken that had been hanging about the fridge for a while - not spending £5 that DH and I can easily waste with takeout snacks.
I've almost run out of money now until payday but the bills are paid, there is food in the cupboards and I've still over half a tank of petrol - so we are fine for now. Lets see how much I can scrape off what's left to throw at the debtThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -

Not a particularly MS weekend, I've just treated us to a takeaway curry and it was aboslutely lovely. I have done some overtime this week so it will balance out!
Other than that I have been as good as I can moneywise - keeping up with my speaking out theme, I've managed to get another £12 back in expenses in one of my jobs, for something I would have just let go before. £12 is almost a week's worth of dinner money and I can't believe I've been so soft in the past.
Still, we are getting there, gradually. Everyone is ok in Pen Towers. Bit of keep calm and carry on at times! This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Mmm, sounds like the curry was perfectly fine Pen. Its always nice to have a treat once and a while and seeing as you have already earned the pennies for it it doesn't count surely
Woo hoo for you getting your expenses back, its easy just to let it slide but all thouse £5/£10 adds up over time. certainly better in your pocket
Have a great weekend and don't forget to chill :j
Ps, how is your smoke free-ness going?0
