oh some better news, I've just found the post that DS had hidden in the kitchen and DH is due a tax rebate. Its just under £100 and going straight into the roof fundThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Hi PD know what you mean re hair..my hair grows very fast and I am really grey so I have started trying to string out the hair dyes and cuts and make them seem to last longer by using a home hair dye in the middle. Never as good but hey as you say better than roots showing.. Plus I have moved to another hairdresser out of town. She is great and costs about 60% of my original hairdresser. Would recommend it if you can.
Just gone shopping to our local butchers so can make chicken rice and beans. Yumm. Cheap too. Then snuggle in for eve with my DDs in front of Strictly. We have also tried to have a clear out..mixed success but here's hoping OH lists some DVDs and CDs on e bay/magpie etc. And..bit shocked that the charity shops no longer take videos..had a bunch of kids ones but they didn't want them. Thought they would be a better media than DVDs, get scratched Less etc..anyway they are now on our garden wall asking for a good home instead!

Have a nice evening in with the girls Brizzle.
My hair doesn't look too bad, the brown colour is pale enough not to drain my face and has covered the blond nicely. DS keeps giving me funny looks though ......This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Good news about the tax rebate.
Have a nice evening with your friends Pen. I know what you mean about the cooking. Back in the day, we used to make cheese &potato pie and then spend more time scrubbing the school kitchen than actually making anything.
I'm still hanging on in there with the highlights. If I have a cut&blow as well it's just short of £100:eek: I try to make that just a few times a year and have a half-head in between. My reasoning is that my mother used to go to the hairdresser every week for a shampoo and set, plus a perm and colour a few times a year and occasionally a comb-out during the week if she was going anywhere special. Well it softens the blow a bit.0 -
Hi Maman, have a good evening too x
My mum was a bit of a money saving in her time. She went grey at 25 and never bothered to colour it as she thought it too much of a faff. Twice a year perm and trim with our family mobile hairdresser - I can still remember all sitting round the kitchen now
(I'm not quite 40 yet and that makes me sound really old )This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Hope you had a lovely evening with your friends Pen. I find that socialising in is a new thing nowadays anyway....I know a lot of our friends do it to save costs and get everyone together. Always lovely
I love your comment of your DS giving you funny looks after the hair colour....:rotfl:0 -
It was a good night, thanks. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy company!
A bit late, but I just listed and added up what I've spent for Christmas presents. It is a bit shocking really but I have done the best I can with offers and freebies and vouchers and most of it is paid for now just a bit to finish off. I've put my name down for some overtime over the next couple of weeks so hopefully that will finish the rest of it and leave some money for a few nice nibbles etc.
We have a lot of brothers and sisters and although we only buy for the children, they just keep having more! I shouldn't moan as I love them to bits but even small pressies add up. Luckily most of them agree with the children only thing - but a few don't so my name may be mud on the day
Spendwise, I've spent the rest of my money on petrol which will last now until I get paid on Friday. I have some emergency money in my purse, but that's it now.
DH and DS have been warned to make do from the kitchen (we could feed the street if we get creative). I just need to get motivated with work lunches.
Oh well, enough babbling, off to watch the end of I'm a celeb
(I'm still loving this money budgetting business - even if I don't like the totals. Perhaps I should ask for another pad for Christmas :rotfl:)This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
I ended up just and just in credit again before pay day - which is such an improvement. I am pleased
So I've now done the next 2 weeks budget. All the big bills come out and I want to get ahead on the debt payments. I've already done the big shop and have hid some money back for emergencies. We should manage ok hopefully.
Christmas pressies are done now. Food will come out of the normal budget plus I'll have a little over time money for a few treats. Car Tax has already hidden away. I've never been this organised in my life.
Life here is ok at the moment. I think the penny has really dropped with the family now that we are skint. Its taken a few months but they are adapting well, I'm quite proud of them really.
DH has asked if we can replace the stair carpet. So I've set him a challenge to go and find the money from somewhere. I sound really blazen but it might just be enough to lift him a bit to get him in action. Before he was just ignoring everything because he was scared of the situation but we all know what burying your head in the sand does. I've promised if he can find the money (legally of course!) then that will be the next thing we spend on. Honestly ours is terrible - completely matted with cat hair that no hoover will remove and massive holes in the front of the steps where its simply worn out.
Feeling pretty good tonight, having a family night in to watch children in need. Time to give my thoughts to those in a worse place than us, always helps to keep perspective. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Perhaps I should start watching my savings accounts more closely too - I have just realised I'm nearly halfway there to the roof fund :jThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
