I have the loveliest Dad in the world. Very stressful morning with the car playing up and I rely on it for both jobs. I ended up in tears with it all as I'm working every day now until next Sunday and can't get it to a garage. But bless him, he's going to take it for me and lend me his car. Things like that mean the world to me as DH can't drive and I need the car to earn. Living out in the sticks makes life difficult.
The money side of it will be a complete pain the b*tt, but I know I can juggle and handle it. If I really need to I can raid the roof fund and I had a little over time this month and next. Its the time side of things that i can't do anything about - I could do with two of me!
So, initial problem solved. No need to stress. I can't do anything about it now until the garage have seen it. I've packed that issue into my mind's filling cabinet and shut the drawer
After having many a conversation about money with DH this week, I finally went shopping in L*dl to see what else I can scrape from the budget. Ours was lovely and quiet so I had time to really check out the prices. Quite a lot of our regular items are a little cheaper and I think the savings will add up. The cats certainly like the food and nobody complained at the tea last night! Shame we don't have Ald* near us to.
I did purchase some bath mats this morning as ours have finally fallen apart. But I used some survey vouchers and a buy one get one free offer so that's sorted for less than £5.
The other good thing to come out of this morning was when I'm stressed I need to do something so I've blitzed the house and the ironing and it looks the best it has in ages
DH is cooking roast chicken now and DS is out with friends, so I can just chill out for the rest of the dayThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Sounds like a good reaction to blitz the house when you're stressed or low... Wish I could do that..I just tend to come on here and lurk, post on my subscribed DFD threads.. So stuff which whilst lovely and makes me feel better doesn't get my house cleaner or any admin sorted.. Funny that:rotfl:
Think I may need to follow your example!

Dad managed to mend the car himself so I only needed to get the new part, and he got the tyres replaced. I used some of the roof fund to cover it but I think I can put that back by the new year.
We had a light splatter of snow here but nothing serious. Walking to the shops helped the budget as we had to carry it home. Brilliant idea, one bag of spuds, veg and a large milk later with no 'extras' certainly kept the cost down.
I found our small oil filled radiator to put in the kitchen as there are no radiators in the back of our old house and its making the living room very draughty. Then we made some chocolate biscuits and its now snug and warm here. I swear they just put empty dust or something in shop bought ones as I can normally eat a whole packet. But when its homemade I can only eat one or two.
So I'm still on target to be in the black by payday next Friday. The cupboards are full and we don't have any birthdays or anything to payout for. I might even be able to stretch the petrol out until then too.
DS has a friend round tonight for a sleep over so I think its going to be chaos here in a minute :eek:This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Glad the car is fixed. We're forecast snow this evening/early hours here.....really hoping we get a decent amount as I love it!
Well done on still being in the black, it's a lovely feeling :T0 -

Hiya Brizzle, not snowed in but not liking the cold either!

Another week gone by already
Christmas is looming and for once I don't feel completely overwhelmed. I have no ideal what we are doing on the day and probably won't until the last minute (strange family life I have).
Its only another joint of meat, some veg and spuds and a pudding if we are home - no problem, cos I know exactly what grocery money I have between now and then
Pressies are bought, wrapped and paid for, cards are written. Actually I'm quite looking forward to it, where ever we end up!
It's strange looking forward into the new year though, I am a bit gutted I'm still debt busting and DH isn't working yet. I just have to stick the rose tinted glasses on and hope things improve, a bit more of keep calm and carry on I think.
Right then, I'm getting far too thoughtful for a Friday evening. Off to find a nice glass of white, who knows what the morning will bringThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
In a moment of madness I went to Mr T's today. Have the shops been shut for the last month! It was terrible and we've only had a sprinkle of the white stuff here. I thought DH was going to do a runner it was sooo packed full of pushy people. And there are still a few weeks until Christmas. Luckily most people round here can't cope with the self service tills so we were in and out as quickly as poss.
Minimal spends today so have treated us to steak for tea tonight and some posh spuds
I'm feeling the need to get back on the debt busting trail again, so I'm back to chucking a few pounds a day at it. Somehow I feel better if I knocking a pound or so off. I'm going to start with the smallest as we've a couple little ones that feel more achievable. So £259 is now £257.
Just me and DH tonight so looking forward to a nice, quiet evening lazing about. Blitzed the ironing earlier and DS's room is done. Just the bathroom and living room to do tomorrow and then I think a nice Sunday roast. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
I've just picked DS up from town and the traffic was horrendous. Its so nice to be back in my warm living room now, car locked up for the night.
No spends today and housework done (but not much else). £2 knocked off the bill so £255 remainingThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0
