Half the people who criticise DFS on here have never had a DFS sofa. We've just finished our 4Years interest free and the suite still looks the same as the day it was delivered. And as for the customer Service I can only speak for the Cheltenham branch but they were brilliant and so acomodating. Even lent us two settees while we waited for the delivery after returning a crap suite to Harveys.

do you think the fabric sofas from dfs are better than the leather ones, i dont want a leather sofa
  • I would wait until they have a sale. They don't have them very often.

    (Sorry couldn't resist) :o

    Our sofa came from
Dfs with a 10 year guarantee yet when we had an issue (out of warranty period) we rang the local store on the off chance and they sent someone out to fix it the next day. Obviously would have been better if there were no issues but can't complain with the service after. Other than the issue (now rectified) the suite looks spot on. My parents also have a Dfs suite and after there were issues noted a new replacement was ordered without much asking. From reading posts on here the issues seem to be branch based. And obviously this can lead to difference in aftersales service. They do have a head office customer services department so maybe direct any unsettled issues here.

We have had our current DFS suite for 5 years and the only problem we have with it is that it looks tired...the cushions along the back of both sofas are out of shape but that's completely down to us. We don't plump them anywhere near as often as we should :o Though when we have company I unzip them, give them a real good shake and plump and they are almost as good as new.

Both the 2 seater and 3 seater gets used everyday and are still as solid as the day we bought them.

We would have no problems buying from DFS again. Infact we were recently going to take advantage of their 4 years interest free credit deal (that's how we originally bought the current suite) but we didn't find anything that we absolutely just had to have.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

How much do you think a DFS sofa is actually worth? They sell for less than half the original price and that will still give them a good markup. The manufacturer will also have added a good markup to their production costs.
A sofa that has an original price of £1000 probably consists of £200 worth of materials tops, and that's being generous.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

And other manufactures don't have the same size 'mark up' ??
We would have no problems buying from DFS again.

A lot of other people must agree with you , all DFS customers cant all be sofa ' virgins'
They ( DFS ) are still on the high st , we certainly hear the horror stories , wonder how many happy returning ones.

I had a DFS suite, bought at least 12 years ago. Can't remember exactly, may well have been longer. We gave it away on freecycle not long ago as it was too big for the house we moved to but there was nothing wrong with it. I bought a 2 seater sofa from Nabru online to replace it which is also fine although more functional than comfortable.

It all very much depends on which DFS Sofa you buy, the better ones are made in the UK, poorer quality ones come from Italy and China.

The way to tell is, the UK ones all have a 10 year warranty, the others do not.

Personally I would avoid all of them.;)

those posh stores cost a lot of money to operate.
1m quid pa is not unheard of. plus tv advertising. you are paying for that cost.

i wouldnt mind so much, but their quality is no better than cheap jacks around the corner.
