  • it's now working. the problem was the internet connection settings such that ''never dial a connection'' should be ticked.

it's working properly now.....thanks for your advice...
  • nice to hear that seaweed
  • Hi ! It's me again.

Am having problems connecting to the internet again.
At first, I thought it was the password that i put in wrong.
So what i did, was reset everything. Uninstalled and installed the adapter. and tried to get into the gateway configuration.

However, if i go to http://192.168.1.1, it doesn't ask me for a username and password. If i do the changes, like changing the SSID, and click on save, it doesn't save it. Even if i click on 'Restore factory default', it doesn't.

    Can anybody help, please ?
  • Hi seaweed

the best option for you now is to do a hard reset of your gateway/router-modem. This will mean that it will be like it was when you first got it and all you have to do is to reenter all your details again. If that does not work come back to us
  • After having problems over the past year I have (literally) binned my modem as eventually it was found to be faulty and outside the 12 month warranty.
Have you tried the hard re-set?; hold in the reset button for 10 seconds, then while keeping the button held in - turn off the power for 20 seconds, turn the power back on. Give it time to check its' system out.
There is a 0800 helpline for Linksys but I found it very difficult to understand what the person on the other end (Phillipines?) was saying. But I guess this may be a problem with most of the manufacturers.
  • thanks guys..

i was able to connect then, via doing a secure setup. been using it until this morning, when it didn't connect once again. m not sure if it's the modem that's the problem ?? coz it sees the connection bet. the adapter and the modem, but not bet the modem and the internet. i tried so many times to do a secure setup, until finally, after 4 hrs, i was successful.

is this a problem with the router or my service provider ? which is BT ? i was tempted to phone BT because there was one time while i was using the internet, i got disconnected ? is it about time for me to change my isp ?

again, thanks all. i'm tempted not to turn off my pc and connection anymore... :-)

Why not simply leave your router connected 24/7 and turn your PC on as and when you want to use it. Routers are designed to be left on and connected to your ISP and use very little electricity.
