Laptop home insurance claim morethan HELP!

    the ebay item page will stay up for a while but i have screen grabbed just incase. It states new for old so it shouldnt matter what it i paid for it should it?

    make sure you didn't have to inform your insurance of any items over £1000 otherwise they won't pay out.

    Good point. It's replacement value for that rather than purchase price.

    It was secondhand, the most they'll pay is the £650 purchase price.
    They won't buy new if it wasn't bought new, and they will probably attemp to have it cleaned and repaired first, and to check it was working when bought.

    Ive never been asked for a receipt - both personally and professionally. It all depends on who they use for their claims management most of them outsource it

    Not with you, do you mean you put in a lot of claims for old equipment as if it was new, and they don't notice?

    i think its anything over 1500 with mine, none of its really clear, i dont have anything that states exactly what i get, as i added insurance for contents outside the home

    The excess is £50. If the policy states new for old, shouldnt they do replace it regardless of purchase price? all id want is the equivalent machine, whether the replacement is used or new

    If the OP has new for old cover they will normally pay the replacement cost irrespective of whether it was second hand or bought for a very low price.

    They will however probably try to arrange a replacement through their preferred supplier
