decent screwdrivers?

  • I'd recommend the Magnusson brand from B&Q.

They're probably not professional level, but I've been using the same set for about two years for general DIY with no problems at all.

They're comfortable in the hand and don't bend out of shape when I'm doing heavier work.

    12 piece set for £12 -

Was gonna post a proper link to the B&Q website, but as I'm new it won't let me. So I've stuck something in below to get around it - just paste it into your browser.

Chilled Stolichnaya vodka and freshly squeezed orange juice works for me.
  • I like Irazola and Draper for my job (Electrician) I seem to find the trouble with buying sets is that you will never use four or so of them.

I agree with Irazola, they are insulated - excellent quality and not many folks know they have a lifetime guarantee too if you get them from a wholesaler like cef.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful
  • The OP did not say whether he wants the drives to open a tin of paint, do some electrical work, hammer some old timber frames or repair his watch.

Any branded ones will last nowadays, and any of the branded ones will bend snap or wear if you don't use them properly

A £5 set from wilkos will last just as long as a £50 set from the snap-on rep

The important thing is to use the most appropriate screwdriver for the job

I absoutely love my Stanley Yankee pump screwdriver. It's fast and powerful and I wouldn't be without it. I also think soft grip handles are well worth while.

I have a couple of Stanleys drivers which are around thirty years old. However, I recently invested in a few drivers from B & Q. They have black and yellow handles, with non slip grips, and a useful set of flats at the handle end of the shaft, where you can fit a 10 mm ring spanner for more purchase. I have used them a lot, and they are comfortable, and the tips show no signs of wear. Halfords professional range are also very good.

Halfords do insulated and standard screwdrivers in all sizes, singles and in sets. The professional range is decent quality.
