  • proper original Stanley were/are good.
Get the best you can afford,in the sizes you need ie don't go buying a massive set of stuff that you will never need.

I'm after the same..stanley are pretty pricey especially the fatmax one's so interested to see what others say.

You get what you pay for,, stanley everytime for me ..:) The cheap c!!! is false economy.

Sure but £35 for a set of 12 stanley fatmax screwdrivers in B&Q...and didn't even come with a case...not convinced when you compare to say toolstation who sell a set of 8 for about £8. So roughly 3 times the price per screwdriver...but 3 times the quality?

I got most of mine from Focus diy, bought them singlely so I only bought the ones I use....

I'd say buy a decent branded ratchet screwdriver that takes bits and then just buy packs of the replacement bits as you wear them out.

Wera tools are pretty good but I have had excellent service from many a cheap tool, sometimes even while being used on production work. For general DIY I am not sure that I would pay a great deal for tools.
Having said that it is nice to have a quality tool in your hand (just stop grinning will you). Nudge! nudge!, wink, wink.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
