I didn't see it, as I've said I think it has malfunctioned, as the other 2 on each side were not up,on getting out of the car I could see it was lodged under my wing.0

So it was up before it damaged your car? or was it in the process of raising as you drove over it?The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Sounds like they left one up for whatever reason & you failed to see it, They could use that as an excuse,
Stop people trying to speed & overtake in the carpark.
Silly idea though, If your behind a large vehicle you may not see the signs warning you. Then it springs up
out of the ground unseen.
Some of the youtube clips look like they know its there & try to rush through though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
OP, you failed to see a bollard that was there/raised.
What are you expecting for an answer?
It would be just the same if you had came on here asking for advice where you stand if you drove into a brick wall that wasn't there earlier, you haven't a leg to stand on.
And, my main bit of advice, I have seen a number of cases where drivers have driven without due care, as in your case, taken the company on and lost the case with having to not only pay for the damage they caused to there own car but also all legal fees.
Give up while you are ahead, and surely, you must have been going some speed to do considerable damage to the front end of your car, think in future you need to be much for careful as next time, it could be a adult or even worse, a child that you hit!0 -

:rotfl:- just imagined a team of bricklayers throwing a wall up in front of a car whilst the driver is looking elsewhere.
Yes :rotfl:
I can imagine an insurance claim stating 'driver said he looked one minute while waiting at lights as they changed to green he pulled away and hit a wall that appear to have just been laid'
I really can't see how you could hit a bollard unless it came up WHILE driving over it, which means a the fail safety lock failed which the OP would have a claim possibly against, but driving into it, not a chance.0 -
I think we need photos tbh.0

Bollards that come up automatically will have a sensor in one of two places and there is normally two sensors pre bollard.
If one fails, depending on how you drive towards/over it it can mean it will rise however, for that to happen they would need to be turned on and I would expect that during opening time they were not.
However, it appears the OP drove into it, but I'm not here to judge, but my advice is, he has no claim, he will fail.
I would imagine if it's a big mess, it may be a write off depending on the age.
Also, was the car park private operated or council?
Anyway, think I will in future be looking into my crystal ball to see if any walls or road blocks are about to be put in front of me0 -
Those sensors aren't foolproof though sassy, nothing is.Look at the links to other clips on youtube and you'll see one where a reporter is lifted off the ground after a council officer is trying to show him its not possible.
They're a bloody stupid idea especially when one vehicle is following another eg the white van that follows a postvan on one clip.He is higher up than a car so harder to see the bollard coming up(very quickly) as its hidden by the bonnet. His passenger isn't wearing a seatbelt and breaks the windscreen with his head(blah blah should have had a seatbelt on yes but there are exceptions in the law) after they hit the bollard.Another shows an AA van towing a car, it lets the van through then quickly raises underneath the towed car lifting it 3 feet off the ground.
There has tp be more sensible ways of stopping people going through areas you don't want them too without risking injury, you cannot always rely on people to notice everything unfortunately.0 -
These things should DEFINITELY go back down if they sense a vehicle passing over them in my opinion - very poor, unsafe design.0
