Would someone mind letting me know what they think of the beans and which brand they may originally have been pretty please?! Want to place an order but DH is a little fussy...tut tut !

    Many thanks x

My OH is really fussy too and he loves these beans. They have a thick sauce and the beans are largish and soft. They are slightly sweeter than what he is used to but he likes them. Some people say they are from Marks & Spencer and one forum I went to said they were told by Big Brands the beans came from Sainsburys, so not sure to be honest. For the price you can't go wrong!

Ooooh, I was tempted in buying the scone mix but the scones on the pack didn't look appetising, lol. How do they taste? I was thinking of making cheese scones as I haven't had those in years!

Adiwood, now all you have to do is cram everything in the cupboards and take a photo of that, lol!

ETA: I have those potato boxes still with the contents (4 boxes under the table) and 2 just left on the floor by the sofa!

It is going to have to stay in the boxes!

I have worked out I have the base (sauce, pizza base, beans) for around 500 meals... :rotfl:

Beans on toast here I come :D

Could you post how you made your scones please Adiwood? I've never made any...:/
  • IMO you don't really need a packet scone mix to make scones. You need to add all but the dry ingredients anyway, which is only flour, baking powder and salt - all of which you can buy pretty cheaply.

This recipe very easy and very tasty

    200g/8oz sr flour
    5g/1 tsp baking powder
    pinch of salt
    50g/2oz butter or marg
    50g/2oz caster sugar
approx 100 ml milk or water
Put flour , baking powder and salt in bowl
Rub the butter in til sandy texture
    Add sugar. Mix
    Add liquid and mix.
I add a handful of sultanas, cheese and/or chilli powder as an option sometimes too.

Clump it all together and press out (don't even need to roll I think). Cut with cutter or a small upturned glass if you don't have one.
Bake 200C or Mk 6 for 15-20 mins.

Eat warm straight from the oven with melting butter and raspberry jam:T

I suppose the advantage of the small packets is that it is already measured for you, but once you make this regularly you can soon make without measuring anyway.

    Same for scone base pizza:
    175g/6oz SR Flour
    half teasp salt
    30g/1oz butter
    120ml/4fl milk
Again, you would need to add the butter and milk anyway, so don't see what else is in the packet apart from the flour and salt!
    Ditto - pancake mix too.

    Happy baking!

Thanks for that...But I DO have the scone mix, so I may as well use it...

Can anyone tell me how it's done please? It says just add water, but I'd rather someone who's used it let me know they did it! Thanks!
