2011 number plates
Hi all wondered if you could help. I would like to buy a number plate that is due out in 2011. I have seen it on one of the sites that sell number plates but want to buy it direct from the DVLA (if i can). I am aware that the number plates are for new cars but have been told I could keep it until it could go on my car? anybody know how long this would be? I am assuming 6 months due to them changing every 6 months...might be wrong though!
Please help

If it really stands out it culd very well go to a DVLA auction.
I would phone he dvla and ask them when they will go on sale (probably 1st of March?)0 -
The other thing to remember you will not be able to put it on a car any older than a new 2011 car. So you will need to buy a new car or keep it on retention for a number of years.
Have a look here:-

unless you buy a 2011 or newer car at some point you will never be able to use it, its nothing to do with keeping it 6 months or so, a registration cannot be allocated to a car older than itself0

You can keep it on retention virtually indefinitely. Fee was around £25 last time I did it.The man without a signature.0

Sorry meant nationalnumbers.co.uk!0 -
It's £25 a year to keep a plate on retention. Don't forget to renew it!
ANd def buy from the DVLA direct. It's the cheapest way to do it
