Tent in the house?

Yes you read it right! I know a lot of MSErs are on a mission to cut back on their heating bills (if you're like me you barely have the heating on) and I have been running this idea in my head for some time. What if you could get a tent (without the guy ropes and pegs) erect it in your bedroom and sleep in that! Surely the warmth from your body will be retained?

Yes I'm eccentric but I wonder if anyone does this or has thought of it. I mean it isn't that weird when you consider those mosquito nets act as a protective barrier in the summer. I saw some tents before that just flip out of a bag with no assembly required (dome shaped). Do you know where I can get one from?

I would think this would be very warm, but you will most likely have a lot of condensation on the tent to deal with.

Cheapest tents WERE in Lidl, Asda, Netto and Woolies. There may be some bargains on Ebay which were used once, or not at all, over the summer! ;)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • Thanks JM for your reply. I did think about condensation but it can't be any worse than it already is in my house.

I'm loving this idea of double bagging the house (sort of) it would work better in an open plan house probably as it would create rooms. But to errect a tent in the bedroom or lounge would pose a few furniture problems here.

I think a 4 season sleeping bag would achieve the same aim.

No, it's a good idea. 4 poster bed is a tent in a room.

How about knocking down front wall and then parking a caravan in there? Then have wall rebuilt.

My OH thinks I am mad!! Mind you that's nothing new for me. I was thinking of maybe erecting it in the front room and bringing the TV into tent aswell. Sorry I am laughing so hard (crying with laughter) here but I really am considering it. :rotfl:
