:rotfl: You're great...
Are you a failed dental student or were you bullied or mistreated by a dentist in a former life? You certainly have an axe to grind.Piglet

Perhaps you could take a leaf out of Pitlanepiglets and let a suitably qualified professional 'just do their job' and help you with your dental problems.0

Said professionals seem disinterested in addressing problems presented under the NHS system. It's just a case of get you in the chair for 5 minutes, do the absolute minimum to justify a band 2 charge, and send you on your way. Once you make it clear you aren't interested in become a private patient to all intents and purposes the provision of dental care is withdrawn, and this isn't just one practice, it's indicative of every one I have tried in my area. It goes like this....
1. Ring new practice
2. Get appointment date 6 weeks form the date you ring
3. Appointment, failed upsell, apathy from practitioner
4. Back to step 1.
Like I've said NHS dental services are now barely extant in many parts of the UK, and even where they can be found they seem to be little more than upselling outlets.0 -
Its disapointing you've had such bad experience of dental services in your area, but there are good dentists around. If you are not satified with the treatment you have recieved there are appropriate avenues to follow and these are taken very seriously in our heavily regulated profession. As advised above, I would be very careful with what you read on the internet. Its worrying you believe a single opinion or internet article that the solution would be a mouth full of crowns or implants, yet do not listen (and to some degree abuse) a group of very helpful professions who take time to provide informative and constructive information. Good luck to you.0

Just go abroad.
Dentists are much nicer there, are charitable altruistic. They'll do whatever you want at any price you care to name. Nothing will ever break, and it will last for 4000 yrs longer than you're likely to live.
You can be a complete w*nker, and they'll just smile sweetly and get on with the treatment in a completely pain free and pleasant manner , whilst you watch a 3D movie on a 75 inch plasma screen on the ceiling.
Dentistry is perfect abroad - go for it!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

I have made complaints to the PCT concerned, but they don't seem particularly bothered either. I think such abuse of the system is now so rampant that effective policing would likely mean the withdrawal of what little NHS dental provision remains. I haven't abused anyone. I've been sarcastic, sardonic, and particularly blunt, but hardly abusive. I figure dentists would appreciate things not being sugar coated.0 -

Your nonsense aside, it does have the virtue of being considerably more affordable. By your own words £2000 with no significant materials costs is insufficient to buy the time of a dentist for what would amount to a working day. If you don't think that this is indicative of excessive pricing then the genesis of the problem within your profession is clear.0 -
If you really think it's only one working day, then you're right. It isn't worth it.

More obfuscation.
For argument sake say 28 crown preps, impressions of both arches and temps placed. Then remove temps, cement permanent crowns and adjust. How many hours of the practitioner time do you think it would take?
As for going abroad for dental treatment, as the costs of dentistry in the UK spiral ever higher, people in need of significant treatment are left with little choice. I mean it's certainly preferable to having people like you spitting poison at them because they don't have £5-10k to drop on your suggested treatment plan.0 -
Id join in but I dont understand all the long words.
BTW, there are a couple of implant dentists in the UK who charge £1k or less, if you have a google for them.0
