Anybody actually finding it hard to find houses worth viewing?! We're about to start looking properly and out of a huge geographical area encompassing 3 local authority areas have only found 2 properties to view, perhaps a 3rd but not overly keen...am I being picky?!
Yeah - same here, there is nothing really worth viewing, been to see 5 so far, very different properties though - did offer on 2 of them.

Your last statement is the only worry with the two properties I've found to view - both will have to accept a more realistic price if I was to buy from them meaning they would be taking a chunky hit (15% below what they paid/20% below asking...but was valued in Sept last year - scottish home report system in case you're wondering). Maybe my eyes are just a lot bigger than my bank balance allows! Now to try and sell my property to give me a fighting chance...any takers
Is it just me or do some people seem to think that property prices have increased significantly since 2006 - i thought the mantra now was that your house will be worth around the 2006 price (excluding london area).

We've been looking for nearly 2 years now with no luck. We don't need to sell, and no mortgage needed, but just getting nowhere. Made three offers at 5% below asking which were rejected. All still on market, still not reduced.
So many of the properties are just practically rip outs, I can't imagine how some of the pricing is done.
I'm losing heart now and thinking we might stay here, where I've lived over 30 years. I love my own house and neighbours are brilliant too, it's just become a bit of an undersirable area now with drug dealers and asbo kids moving into houses that have been bought by Housing Associations.
Why is it so hard to buy a decent property in what's supposed to be a stagnant housing market?0 -
We've finally found a house we really like - offered £250k as it had been on the market for nearly 9 months at that price but offer rejected. Asked EA to leave the offer on the table for 14 days. Not expecting much but do feel the vendor may be missing a trick to sell to FTB who is willing to move exceptionally fast (if poss!)
The EA said the vendor 'needs' £265k to cover their costs (advertising with multiple agents).
Is it worth offereing an extra 2k for white good and some of the furniture?
On top of this, the house has been empty for 14 months!30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0 -

Same here. Ordinary, straightforward houses seem to be not for sale at the moment - just houses with problems. Have been checking rightmove daily for months, but starting to lose heart.0 -
My purchase fell through - vendor changed his mind (after the survey, after the searches, after the gazumping......). I'd spent about six months finding this property and there is nothing else that ticks as many boxes. Sad thing is the survey showed up the house needed about £20k spent on it which I had factored in and I'm sure the owner doesn't realise this and the house will deteriorate further. Keep looking, extended search area but nothing suitable at the moment.0

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. I was having a similar problem not being able to find houses I liked, I have asked all the agents to email me their new instructions in the areas of my choice and set up an email address for this purpose. They have all jumped at the chance and it saves me hours on right move and other sites.0 -
To those saying its hard to find houses to look at - I found that a problem too! There were loads of 'matches' coming back but only 5 that I actually wanted to view and despite what people were saying there didn't seem to be much coming onto the market in the area I was interested in either!
I am actually buying the first house I went to see off the list though and the one I liked the most from rightmove
I am due to complete a week today :T I am scared what state the house will be left in!!Proud meowmy of four fuzzy cats0 -
Hate hate hate estate agents.
Seriously considering automatically discounting any properties with a certain local agent in the future0 -
I think they're all rubbish in some respects. What has this agent done Tyler?Proud meowmy of four fuzzy cats0
