Yes, great news, LisaB!
I should get the results of my survey tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's okay...0 -
time for a thread resurrection !
We went to an open day today. Very standard 3 bed detached owned by an elderly lady who has since moved into a home. Needs an awful lot of work, but the house itself seemed pretty sturdy & generally well looked after. Wood chip everywhere and a vision in avocado tooWe'd ideally like to be able to do a full width, 2 storey extension to make it right for us.
The house had an hour's viewing slot 11-12. There were a lot of people having a look around initially but we were the only couple to actually stay for more than about 15 minutes. I'm hoping that's a good sign!
After a lot of nail chewing and talking, we emailed our offer in. Apparently bidding closes at midday on Monday, and we'll hear a little after that: wish us luck !"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -

Good luck Grimbal, hope this one works out ok for you. I may have some news soon but don't want to jinx it just yet!! We've got an issue we need resolving, will hear by Tues/Weds so I need all the good luck I can get too!

I'm just about to put an offer in on a house. Up for £160,000, I'm going to offer £141,000. Any advice before I do it!!0

Solicitor has received a copy of the revised contract. Mortgage broker has been informed that offer will be sent out tomorrow. We've jumped through every hoop imaginable so far. Any reason why I shouldn't be getting excited now?! (other than I'm too scared to jinx it by believing its going to happen at last!)
In theory, exchange can happen as soon as the mortgage offer is in my solicitors hands (and I can get to his office to sign the contract!) but I'm so nervous that its going to go wrong again...0 -

have you looked at what other places nearby have gone for? If you can go in with a bit of background to your offer, it can surely only help? Good luck with it, let us know what happens!Any reason why I shouldn't be getting excited now?! (other than I'm too scared to jinx it by believing its going to happen at last!) AFM: our offer was rejected, we were beaten to it by cash buyersI've decided that I don't like open house sales. As a seller, they're great, but as a buyer it does maximise the competition unfortunately. Bit gutted as renovation projects are few & far between where I am and this was on a good road too. We're going to ask the EA to leaflet the area (& in particular one road) to see if we can encourage any interest
tbh, I'm feeling a litle down about things. We've sold (well, completion set for a week today) & will be chain free with our purchase as we gambled upon the market picking up a bit this Spring. I know it's only March, but we're just not seeing any properties coming up in our price range (100k below & 100k above yes, just not where we want it to be!). Feeling like it's never going to happen"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
Well we have exchanged! Such a relief. Completion set for the 22nd so fingers crossed. Grimbal - it was like that for us for a long time, no houses in our price bracket, lots and lots between £400-500 k and loads over £1 mil but nothing in between, gets very frustrating! Good luck0
