  • :eek:Please don't use baby wipes on your face, the clue is in the fact that they clean everything:eek: you end up with very dry and leathery skin. invest in some muslim from material shop, cut into hankie size squares and just use the with water or for general cleansing routine use them damp to take of cleanser instead of cotton wool. They gently exfoliate your skin as well. you can then just sling them into the washer. They will last for years. if you want to buy some ready made you can get them from the body shop - its obviously cheaper to make though.:D there's lots of other uses for muslim clothes as well ie using it to filter your tap water for example, only found this out yesterday from friend who has studied this topic for degree.

congrats to all those that have just got new jobs:T:T:T:T
re, medical assessment. This is very scary, particularly as CAB have condemned th new assessment as unfit for use. I'm on IB at the moment and know that at some stage I will be called in. I'm dreading it as I know that there is no way I can work. Ii did a 2 day course last year and was ill for 2 weeks following it. Since then my condition has worsened considerably, I've been tring to get my pots washed for over 2 weeks now. Trouble is because diagnosis is ME its very difficult due to some gp's being very ignorant to reserch and up to date findings in this area..going to stop typing about this now as I feel a rant coming on and it would turn into a 3 chapter disatation on the history of ME....

Ras...thanks..we have made the porch and utility room all warm and insulated...the dog loves it in there..we were on the verge of buying our house when oh got made redundant so our plans for doing the bedroom got put on hold...we have decided in the new yr we are going to strip it out completely and put new flooring down and get some of the insulation sheets for the walls..the room is very well ventilated..so much so my heavy curtains swing in the breeze...the council won't even entertain the idea that the windows are crap..double glazed my bum!!!!!....like i say everywhere else is lovely and cosy just our room...the SAS wouldn't survive in there...we made of tough stuff..lol....
Have sent my hubby shopping this morning with a list of stuff to get for my little stockpile...flour,sugar,teabags,beans,pasta,looroll,etc...he is also going to the butchers...i rang them yesterday and asked how much it would be for what i wanted..not too bad...£20..so that'll keep us going for a while..have decided to have a couple of dinners that are meat free..and see how it goes..they are terrible carnivores in this house...
Have decided against getting a doughnut maker(unless its a gift)..for the time being..the review i was given wasn't encouraging but thanks for taking time to do it....
Suppose i had better get dressed now..feel dog rough this morning and i'm sure i look the same i haven't looked in the mirror yet..daren't...lol

    invest in some muslim

:D:D I had a sudden image of trying to plaster a middle eastern bloke all over my face :D
I`ve got some muslin left over from my cheesemaking days, (sterilised and boiled of course!) and could use that, great idea, thanks. :)
Have to say, I`m guilty of using baby wipes, especially if I`m in a hurry.... *blushes*
"Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!" :D
  • Mardatha..i'm glad its not just me that feels this way..i'm very worried about the price increases..its hard now and will get lots harder i think..wish folks ITRW around me would be honest and that way maybe we could all pull together...think i might be dreaming there but you never know...batten down the hatches folks..its coming and there is not a lot we can do to stop it..except help each other and be pennywise...

I was reading before about the temperatures in everyones homes. I have NO idea at all how warm/cold it is in my flat but I have just been sat on the loo (too much information I know) looking through into my living room (where DS is playing and the sun is coming through the window) and could see steam (??) rising out of the plug in air freshener confused0044.gif. Now I hardly ever use these but I had the fryer on last night (again hardly ever use) and I am now convinced my flat smells of fat sick0001.gif. Have been over and checked and its not overly warm but i am now even more curious about the temperature in here!!!

EDA - just realised this wasnt where I meant to post this ashamed0005.gif will now go post it in the right place so sorry to those who will see it again

I feel that things --"things" meaning prices/cuts/weather/ all getting scarey and making me nervous. Wish it was wednesday- when they are announcing what they're up to and then we can start fighting back.
God it feels like France in 1941 ..

That is exactly how I feel = cat on hot bricks. Can't relax until I know what is going to happen. I really feel that things are going to be very bad.

Edit: PS Just called in Aldi and there was no bread flour at all. Small (1kg) bags of plain/self raising at 28p)

Homebase have cheap greenhouse thermomenters in the gardening section. Are you sure it was steam and not vapour? If you and your son are comfortable and the flat is not at risk of damp, them the temp should be fine.:)

I am more interested than concerned about the budget at the moment but like everyone else I will struggle if cuts are hard and prices continue to go up. :(

OH is painting the kitchen, dining room and laundry room today (with money saved for the job) and I am stripping a couple of old bits of furniture reclaimed from the dump. :D We are exposing the old fireplace in the kitchen so that is another source of heat where we can burn scavenged (from MIL) logs. Hate the kitchen being out ofaction while this is going on but have a stew in the SC with beef that OH got reduced last night so tea will be easy and we won't be tempted by takeaway.

Had a bad night's sleep so am still stoking the coffee levels. :o

ps... someone remind me not to wander in to DT before I've had my breakfast. The opinions of some of the posters on there are mighty scary to read in the morning. Talk about scaremongering.... As times do get tougher the last thing we need is the smugly superior frightening everyone and wagging a finger at us all while trying to prove their (flawed) arguments and further their very personal opinions about why we are all in this mess.
Lets just get out of it in one piece shall we? ;)

    Sorry.. Rant over. :o

Well I think its chilly but not freezing (but then I'm still thinking about the winter we had last year where my legs actually went purple - we're hardy up here in Scotland :rotfl:) but DS would run round in the snow naked if given half the chance - he has NO concept of cold at all :o

Really must invest in a thermometre..............

Its Lidl that sell bread flour, Aldi do have bread mixes from time to time, I have found they do not work too well in my bread mixer, think they ask for too much water so tend to make therm with my hand mixer, it had dough hooks and leave it to rise, then bake it in a 2lb load tin, which reminds me I went to Tesco this morning the cheapest bread flour stron white and wholemeal is hovis at 99p for 1.5kg (3lbs equivilent). I bought 4 bags; 2 of each and they are now in my freezer away from the pesky mice, although no real signs of one this morning........

    I
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
