I had an idea from the debate on this mornings wright stuff rudolph stew do you think its mad. apparently lids selling pack steaks for 5.99 alwasy wanted to try deer and similar I guess and cheaper or is it os too far and bit mean?
Would anyone else buy and eat it?
Also was hoping we find out of hubbys got job tue/wed they been so slow not sure what to do if dont get this one theres so little out there.
Watched giles and sue tonight made me chuckle lots really enjoying it this weeks better than last.
Been invited to jaimie oliver party this week not sure if should go as normally involves shopping but dident go to last one..
personally - i wouldnt go to a Jamie Oliver party. His stuff looks nice - but its certainly not cheap. Cant recall prices offhand - just remember looking through the catalogue?/website? and thinking that I wouldnt pay the price they were charging for a lot of the things.
I shall watch the rest of the Good Life series - though I watched through the series itself back years ago. Having seen the originator series and liked it - then I was a bit disappointed in this "take" on it. But I shall watch the rest anyway outa interest.
Hope things work out for your hubby re that job.
Re the reindeer meat - I dont really understand just why there IS a debate at all about it. As a vegetarian - I feel "If you eat meat, you eat meat - why draw the line at any one meat instead of another <puzzled smilie>". So if I ate meat - then I'd eat reindeer and think "why ever not?". (Obviously I'm "soft" enough/used to my own Society's ways enough that I wouldnt want to eat the type of animals commonly kept as pets - so cats/dogs/horses for instance would be "off the menu"). In my case I went the "other way round" and thought "Well - if I wouldnt eat animals commonly kept as pets in this Society - then why would I eat any other animals either? - so I won't".
(Before anyone wonders - yep....I KNOW I KNOW about "plants have feelings" - hence I mentally ask the ones in my garden or the wild to "turn off the feelings" before I give them a trim or pick a bit to eat....:D:rotfl:). But thats me...:D:rotfl:. So - somewhere in the future if you spot a woman pausing briefly before she picks something - darn ...I've just been recognised...0 -
How odd, I was feeling close to tears tonight for no reason at all really and it's very unlike me. Fortunately it soon passed.
You put on the British "Stiff Upper Lip" did you Charis?:):rotfl::rotfl:
Don't think the onset of winter is helping - lots of people feel "lower" at this time of year. On the other hand - think we are all aware that the proposed cuts are now going to start to "work their way through" soon and wondering if we will be affected.
Heck - why not have a good cry if it makes people feel better?:) "Life is a !!!!! and then you die" as that phrase goes and sometimes it "gets the better" of most of us and then we shed some tears/etc at having to put up with it - before "girding our loins" and sallying forth again thinking "Well - I'm here - so I'd better get on with it again and make the best of it..."0 -
I bought some Jamie at Home stuff and although it's expensive it's excellent quality and genuinely useful - a damn sight better than the tat sold by Pampered Chef and the likes. Think John Lewis rather than Home Bargains:rotfl:You can get it online if you google, so you can have a look.0

Researchers (funded by the Climate Challenge Fund) have spent lots of money to discover that closing curtains saves money on fuel bills!!!! They could have just asked, couldn't they!!

They found that closing curtains can save as much money on fuel bills as fitting double glazingThe low-tech, cheap solution wins again :T and wooden sash windows are far nicer to look at than plastic double glazing

Is anyone else feeling really low and down today? Have felt really weepy and assumed it was me, but my DD16 boyfriend has just said that there were girls in his class all crying at points during the day and that he saw a teacher sit in her car and cry after school.
Me too! Dozed off watching tv for 15mins last night then woke up & couldn't stop crying. Know I am worried about my business etc but thought it was a weird thing to happen as felt ok before I dozed off.0 -
Surely, surely I can't be the only one whose teenage children (age15) don't as a rule get anything like that amount of money for their Christmas or birthdays. We are giving ours £50 each (ditto DD1 and am making DGS a quilt) and will spend roughly another £20 each on bits and pieces. They will add our dosh to what they get from grandparents, aunts and uncles etc and DD will probably end up with a sizeable chunk towards the iP*d nan* she wants but will have to make up the difference from her earnings. DS is saving up for a decent fiddle so that's where most of his money will go. Yes it would be lovely to be able to spend a bit more but neither of them have complained it is too little - in fact, they have quite enjoyed working out what they want to put their money towards and how far they can stretch it!
Seasalt - we have never spent more than £50 on each of our two children for Christmas and birthdays. They are now in their early 20s and we usually spend less! If they wanted a really big present they had to save up!0 -

Bless you. Didn't mean to make anyone cry. Although my mother was and still is an awful person I was very blessed with the most wonderful grandparents anyone could ever wish for. Sadly my grandfather passed away two years ago next sunday but my gorgeous Grandmother is still with us and still going strong. I am really lucky to have had two such marvellous people guiding me in my life.:A'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'
Proud Mummy to two gorgeous miracles.:j0 -
Morning all
Well its nice to for the first time in years have something new in the house. TV is all set up. XBOX is hidden away and my DS is purple. One of the games that came with the DS my Benji already has so going to leave it in the wrapper and go and exchange it at gamestation i think being that he wants other games from their too.
The game that came with the xbox owen wants to give to Josh but told him that Ben would enjoy it more and being that Joshs mum said she was buying games after we brought the kinnect she can do it.
Today I will be making Twink's - lethal I know but may need some tasters as I'm thinking of making them as more a tray bake than cookies.
Also will heat proof house and make a nice pasta dish for tea tonight.
Going to ring my friend in a minute and see if he wants our old TV and might give him dinner too so I know he's fed for the night.
Right cleaning is calling so best go.Time to find me again0
