Agoraphobia means i can't go out alone. It does not mean i can't go out at all.

If you go on the NHS website and type agoraphobia you will clearly see what agoraphobia means and those who don't understand my illness will understand what it means before judging me :)

Also i did not say shopping. I said to a shop.

Shop or shopping doesn't make any difference as the statements aren't asking your original question.
I honestly can't see any bank lending you money to buy a car, your best bet would be to try and borrow from family and pay them back.

Another alternative to try is working from home, that way you'll increase your income and if you've got a good employment track record I see no reason why a bank won't lend to you.

    Good luck in your quest
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
  • I dont understand why i've come on here for some simple friendly advice and now i have people questioning my illness when none of you have met me. I know what it says on the nhs website and it clearly states that person can leave the house with someone yet you all want to make out i am some kind of liar.

Shopping would be to assume i'm going on a jolly day out clothes shopping when i said a shop i mean a shop as in a corner shop to get a loaf of bread which i can't pay for myself so someone would have to be with me anyway, seeing as i cant be alone see.

I really dislike people who have no idea what living with the illness means judging me.

    Thank you very much.
  • Every dafty? do you know how hard it is for people to pass the employment and support allowance medicals? they passed and said i was that bad they couldnt of said no i'm unable to leave the house alone. so how is it that easy that any "dafty" can claim.

I've attempted to work and i've attempted to go to college i've had break downs where i've not wanted to live because i couldnt hack it yet all i wanted to do was work and go to college.

I didnt sign on benefits for this illness for many years. In the end i had to go to the doctors and thats when THEY said i needed help not me...i was living on no money no benefits nothing for a long time.

As i'm now saying yet again i do not want a car on DLA at all i wouldn't even expect it. I just wanted to know if there was any HELP for me to beable too get one.

The open university course is more for me to help me have a reason to go on at a times. Being housebound is no fun and i really wish some of you realised how lucky and cruel people you are.

I spend everyday studying law so exactly what job would you like me to do from home? considering i clearly have no qualifications as i'm unable to go out alone. you name me something. go ahead.

OU is part-time study; so there is no reason for you to study every day - unless you have a disability (like myself) which means you can only do a few hours each day.

  • I do study a few hours each day but not because of a disability but because then it spreads my time out as i'm stuck in the house its better for me to spread it out. I will clean and do some studying every day
  • I know what group i am in thank you. I'm on a waiting list of 2 years though.

I also know there is alot of really disabled people and many many worse than me, still does not give you any right to talk to me like something you stood in.
  • no. treatment and the people at the hospital i need to see.
  • I am agog to see yet another post from someone who is looking for assistance to buy a car which is a luxury item and not a necessity of life, regardless of what someone''s medical diagnosis might be. Food, rent, heat are necessities, but luxuries need to be worked for and paid for by the individual. I was recently unemployed for 13 months (employed again now), but at the grand old age of 45 I have not had regular access to a car since I was 21, and although I know that it is no picnic to not have a car (given that I live 15 mins walk away from the nearest bus stop), it would not cross my mind to look for financial assistance with something like this. Benefits and help should not be used for trivialities like you are suggesting. First time I have ever been angry at anyone on this forum. As someone else suggested, you need a reality check!
  • I don't want anyone to pay for a car. I wanted to know if there was any help to buy one. I will be using my own money to get one.

    I can't get on a bus.
  • No the waiting list for anyone to see who i need to see is 2 years, the therapist i have seen is very ashamed to say it also that the waiting list is indeed 2 years as there is so many people on it.

As for DLA it is not likely i would even be accepted for it, but i have been told to try and claim it so i'm doing so. They would not hand over a car even if i did get accepted for it so i would indeed be getting the car out of my own money.
