Sadly I won't be able to make the Leeds date as I'll be travelling for work. However, once you have the details, let me know and I will pass them on to ex-colleagues in Leeds. There is a possibility, if I can get hold of the right person that there might be an opportunity for a corporate session on the same trip...

I've been looking through my LinkedIn network and there might actually be some useful people there  Has anyone set up a LinkedIn group for the matrix, or is anyone planning on doing so? It might make a good space for discussions. And it does work... I got my current job through it :)

I know nothing about football, but one thought did occur to me - what about approaching the companies that sponsor the football clubs? They might like the idea of their sponsorship and CSR activities being connected in some way (not that I know who any of them are :o but if someone tells me I might have some contacts...)

I suppose it is time for an update from me. I have been having a problem with the 250 people list - which is quite simple, really; I have to start doing it. What stops me you might ask? I suppose this is one of my biggest fears - that my list will end with about ten people. I was, after all, the person who last Christmas received three cards at work - two from colleagues from other departments and one from mine. Not a popularity contest Queen eh? But then again, I have not sent Christmas cards for a long time - I send an e-mail and always give the money to the Du Paul Trust (they get young people off the streets).

I am going to do it though - because I have just looked at all the thanks I have had on this site and rememberd that I am a part of you lot. So I can't end up with only ten people, could I?

Also today I gave an absolutely killer lecture in epistemology to 60 PhD students. It is hard, it is heavy and it is next to impossible to make it entertaining without !!!!!!!ising the concept. Guess what? I did it! The Doctoral students reacted to every small nuance I introduced - they laughed, they listened, they reflected, they asked questions. And at the end a fair number of them came to say thank you and how much they are looking forward to next time. There is nothing I enjoy more - this is my way to touch the future.

And I really like today's challenge - will have to consider carefully what is the one thing that if I stop doing I could get much further.

Oh, and tomorrow I'll be so much wiser - it is my birthday.

Happy Birthday Firewalker! Your lecture sounds fantastic. I'm doing an online course on epistemology at the moment and enjoying it but do sort of miss having a 'real life' person explaining things (obviously our tutor is real but there is something that proper lectures and tutorials can give that online stuff can't).

MG - happy to pass the flyer for your event to people I know, I'm not far from Leeds and I know quite a few students of various ages so can hopefully get a few on board.

Carrying on with my list today (which doesn't seem to be getting any smaller - as I finish one thing, something else appears). Woke up panicking in the middle of the night last night, not nice.. but I feel calmer today.. or maybe just so tired I can't worry!

Have a good day all x
