  • Well I have disappeared for 2 weeks and wow!!!! I have some reading to catch up on.

    Hope everyone is doing well
MG- well done for coming off benefits
Claire-hope your sales are rolling in
Everyone else-hope you are all ok and on the up.

Its probably going to take me a few days to read through everything so sorry if I have missed anything important (I will catch up as soon as possible but you ladies move so fast :D)
Each time you smile, it'll only last a while.

Oliveoyl - I love your and your OH's mix of targets, it's made me think maybe OH and I could do some too, I'd initially thought it wasn't for us, as 2 trips home meant lots to organise and fit in anyway, but it's supposed to be a challenge :D

Fun here at the moment, well I caught a nasty cold/flu bug presumably at the hotel, guess what, most of the staff are off sick too, so normal services will resume when staff recover!! Feel incredibly sorry for the healthy ones, they're being run ragged.

OK, it's taken some discussion to make it SMART, but not only do I have my 50 day challenge list, but Popeye has added his tuppence :rotfl:

    1) Lose 2.5 kg (I wanted to aim for 5kg, but Popeye insists that was too much to achieve - he has a point we have a number of guests in the next month)
    2) Ship 10,000 football shirts to Africa (this should be number 1 :rotfl:)
    3) Read 5 books: Diamonds, Gold and War, William Wilberforce's biography, Khayelitsha, The Places Inbetween and Dinner with Mugabwe. (should help wean me off Sudoku :o)
    4) Finish the play that I started........
    5) Finish Shred :o

    He has:
    1) Learn Zulu
    2) Revise German (we are going to Berlin in January :j)
    3) Learn Clair de Lune on the piano

Now it written down on a public forum we are committed (or should be :rotfl:)

I love these goals, Olive! Tho I don't think I could bear to read about Mugabe......

    We push each other :o

Those are books I'd bought him over the 2 years he was here on his own, and I said (casually-like) one of my challenges should be to cut down on the amount of Sudoku I do and read more about Africa.......:p

When he saw my list, he felt compelled to "at least do something" :rotfl:

I'll let you know how Dinner with Mugabwe goes......
Popeye's lasting impression from reading the book is that the last government in 1997 stitched "old Bob" up big time with the removal of promised support...........

We have a $750,000 note here that expired in 2008, though we've seen billion dollar notes too :D Good old Bank of Zimbabwe - they don't have their own money any more, just US, and Rand

  • Hi

I would like to join the Matrix please - will send PM to Memorygirl when I have posted this.

I have been following you all since MDAM thread.

I feel like I know you all so well :rotfl:, even what bra sizes you wear!! (Un)luckily I don't have your problem!!

I could put a long spiel about me but I have a diary so I will be lazy and just link to it - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2175629

I thought not much had happened over the last year but reading it again it appears it has.

Just after the 50 day challenge ends I will be 30 and I want to get my debt below £10,000 so I need to pay off £900+ from credit cards and also pay my car bill of £900+.

I also need to sort out a housing situation which is all of my own making so will have them two things as my challenge.

I also need to lose weight ready for friends wedding which is in Feb.

I have already got MG's book which I started reading yesterday and am thinking I will send my son on the Cambridge course - but need to sort the logistics for this as we live a few miles away.

  • Forgot to say I already have my own business of some sort - we sell eggs from our chickens, turkeys at Xmas and also we have just sent some lambs to slaughter - the meat has already been sold so this week we took some more!!

I also used to sell on Amazon, my listings ended ages ago and I still have all the books - about 1500 of them - oh what am I going to do?!!?

Hi Eager_Elephant, things are quiet on the thread at the moment, but maybe it's because it's the weekend. Anyway, hello and enjoy the adventure, sorry if it sounds too much like the start of an Enid Blyton story :)

Hello Eager Elephant - nice to see you over here!

    Right, my 50 day challenge:
    1. Write and promote an article
    2. Stabilise my bank accounts - write requesting refund of charges and ensure no more bouncing items. Then I will be ready to implement new budget come January.
    3. Do personal training plan 3 times a week. And cycle/walk to school at least once.
    4. Get websites online for RubySewSew and Into The Red Tent.

So there we are. I've said it. I'm committed. I'd better write it down and put it somewhere I can see it!
