Hi guys, I have heard from Martin, and unfortunately in this case he is unable to help. He has his reasons, and I respect them, but it was worth a try!

When you think abut it - he is everywhere at the moment. Not fair to plonk hm in the middle of such a tightly scheduled challenge.

.................... and then it would be open house for EVERY charity to ask - and how can you pick and choose without offending someone??

Still - would be cool if the tower could check for any old shirts wouldn't i:D

Is there a FB page for Memory Girls Matrix???

Not yet - but I guess there should be.

If this broadband stays stable today I will try and get one up.

    Greetings All

I had been lurking on MemoryGirl's previous thread for a while, trying to summon up the courage to post. This new thread seems to be going even faster and I was nervous about being lost in the rush but a number of coincidental prompts have drawn me back here. I don't like to ignore messages from the Universe...

Reading the previous thread I realised how unhappy I am in my current job (you'd think sitting at my desk in tears on several occasions would have been a clue but I kept making excuses until I looked at the bigger picture). Unfortunately I don't really know what I want to do instead, which makes job hunting more awkward.

I would love to do something creative but struggle to see how I could make a living from it. I have been writing 'novels' since I was very young and right now have one (allegedly) finished and about four in-progress novels on my computer but the thought of actually finishing and sending them off into the wide world terrifies me, and I know very few authors even make enough to give up the day job.

I'm not sure I'll be of any use in the current project since none of my friends are into football (mostly rugby) but I would love to be a part of the Matrix. I do have quite a lot of contacts spread across the country due to my hobby (LARP - if you've ever heard of it...)

Also suggesting Bath/Bristol for the Memory Girl tour - 4 universities in a small area and I have friends at Bath uni still who I could ask for assistance.

Looking (nervously) forward to the ride

    Thanks

Welcome aboard hon - it is going a bit mad at the moment - It seems that OliveOlyl has inspired us into truly remarkable action.

Now that you are following the hints the universe is sending you I am certain you are on the right track to finding out "What makes your heart sing"

And four, nope make that 5 books - Way to go hon:beer: - the one thing I know about you already is that you've got stickability.

I've captured you username for the matrix - and as soon as my broadband starts behaving the plan is set up a home-away-from-home for the hundered or so people who want to play. Vounteers very gratefully accepted to set up a website or forum or something)

As for your LARP - Live Action Role Play - well you are talking to a lassie living spitting distance from "Braveheart" country so I know exactly the varied and useful group of people that participate in these varoious adventures, "real" and historical. What a fantastic hobby.

Enough from me - and back to the action - but chip in when you feel inspired hon.

That's a really nice idea hornetgirl. And that solves one of the things that has been worrying me - what to do if football kits continue to arrive after we have achieved our goal :D

At the moment though this project is based on a particular charity - the Orphanage and this Christmas. Now we've set this target and are motoring if we divert it to an existing charity (and lets face it there are hundreds) then the "game" we have here is not our game but somebody elses IYSWIM? This is not just Kits for Kids, it is MG's Matrix charity - 10,000 shirts in 6 weeks so that we get them to Katha Day Centre in time for Christmas :D

I love the way that people are pulling out all the stops here for this :A
It really feel like it is building the matrix into a community or family. I wouldn't have done this without the inspiration and backing of the Matrix, though I'll be glad when it's over :rotfl:

Though if the Matrix would rather hand it over to KitAid, they look a very worthwhile charity, and our collection matches their requirements........

Wha a wonderful problem that would be - to make even more children smile because we exceed our target:D

Lets get your 10,000 and then any others could absolutely be distributed to there places (ithe name of the Katha Centre obviously to help spread the word about you guys even further)

Doing this with you feels "personal" I think thats what has made the difference to the Matrix - we have a realtionship with you, through you directly to the kids ISWIM.

We look at our kids - but we imagine yours..... and that has been enough to get me off my bahookie and asking.

    Morning all :hello:

We've had a few posts showing what other groups are out there collecting kit for Africa and kids, but it seems that organisers/coaches of smaller clubs and groups are not aware of what already exists.
It may be that the bigger clubs already are part of the existing collections, but it does appear that there is plenty of room for US to gather and send. Also, I do like the fact that I am able to tell people exactly where their kit is going.

Olive, I've been on the facebook group and I love your cartoon..eagerly awaiting the poster now :D I'm off to work soon, so I'll handbag a few more suspects whilst I'm there.

Living in a society of 'Negative Nellies' I love coming to this thread for a boost of positivity and a feeling of what can be done if you put your mind to it. :T

Went to check my email - and theres poster design from a very gorgeous and generous Graphic Artist. Its beautiful - and made me shed a wee one as well.

I'm guessing that because they haven't posted on here they want to remain incognito - but we don't bite hon.

Its in a PDF - can someone more technical than me PM so that I can bounce it over to them so that they can post it up on the thread perhaps? or even better somewhere where we can all access it to download it for ourselves?

Sorry guys - I am trying to get my head around all the techie stuff - but even my new version of Word is making me struggle at the moment.

If you love the poster - then we can start distributing it and get collecting.

I love this place - you have all got some great big hearts

OOOOOHHHHHHHHH a lovely sparkly poster:D Sounds perfect and once we have found someone techie I will then be able to forward to my DAD who is proper football mad and can forward to his group of friends! I'm not able to offer any of my own as big F1 fans this way. May also ask him to be cheeky and speak to a friend of his who has a up and coming comedian son! Lets just says he's been travelling around Britain a bit recently.

Also, on another techie question, I really am rubbish:eek: I want to put the kit 4 kids fb page into my status. I'm sure it is really easy and I am just being inept but help gratefully received.

    Regards

    Clooties Mum calling in again

With a big apology - I woke up @ 4am today with the thought - I can't collect from all the teams I offered to, even though I can contact them.

So if it's OK, can I scale back who I offered to contact & keep them in my area?

I can contact (& collect from) Dundee, Raith Rovers, Cowdenbeath & Dunfermline. I'll also put out the word @ my work & DH's work.

I'm so sorry to have let you lot down but I just realised.....

If the very gorgeous and generous Graphic Artist is who I think it might be, they're a techie wiz and have been known to post the odd (sometimes very odd!!) picture on here. Perhaps a "pretty please" might persuade them to come out of hiding. (Seriously, I don't think it would hurt for them to add "Poster design by X" + contact details at the bottom. Might bring some work their way.)

Alternatively, have you thought about E-mailing the PDF to your Matrix list? You have all our E-mail addresses!

If only I knew anyone who was into football...!
