I have (Popeye actually :o) updated the piccie on facebook. *phew*
He was nice about the pic, shall we just keep it as our logo?
Jpeg available if you like :p

Love it Olive, is there anyway that I can save it and set it as my profile picture on facebook? Could you tag it with my name so that it saves to my albums and then I will set my profile picture to tie in with my profile status? PM me if you want to find me on facebook.

I had been lurking on MemoryGirl's previous thread for a while, trying to summon up the courage to post. This new thread seems to be going even faster and I was nervous about being lost in the rush but a number of coincidental prompts have drawn me back here. I don't like to ignore messages from the Universe...

Reading the previous thread I realised how unhappy I am in my current job (you'd think sitting at my desk in tears on several occasions would have been a clue but I kept making excuses until I looked at the bigger picture). Unfortunately I don't really know what I want to do instead, which makes job hunting more awkward.

I would love to do something creative but struggle to see how I could make a living from it. I have been writing 'novels' since I was very young and right now have one (allegedly) finished and about four in-progress novels on my computer but the thought of actually finishing and sending them off into the wide world terrifies me, and I know very few authors even make enough to give up the day job.

I'm not sure I'll be of any use in the current project since none of my friends are into football (mostly rugby) but I would love to be a part of the Matrix. I do have quite a lot of contacts spread across the country due to my hobby (LARP - if you've ever heard of it...)

Also suggesting Bath/Bristol for the Memory Girl tour - 4 universities in a small area and I have friends at Bath uni still who I could ask for assistance.

Looking (nervously) forward to the ride

    Thanks

There is already an established charity called KitAid which collects unwanted kit from many clubs, holds supporters kit amnesties etc. Rather than reinventing the wheel by trying to source kit from the same locations, it could be worth contacting them direct, as they are always looking for places and projects to redistribute the kits to. That's a really nice idea hornetgirl. And that solves one of the things that has been worrying me - what to do if football kits continue to arrive after we have achieved our goal :D

At the moment though this project is based on a particular charity - the Orphanage and this Christmas. Now we've set this target and are motoring if we divert it to an existing charity (and lets face it there are hundreds) then the "game" we have here is not our game but somebody elses IYSWIM? This is not just Kits for Kids, it is MG's Matrix charity - 10,000 shirts in 6 weeks so that we get them to Katha Day Centre in time for Christmas :D

I love the way that people are pulling out all the stops here for this :A
It really feel like it is building the matrix into a community or family. I wouldn't have done this without the inspiration and backing of the Matrix, though I'll be glad when it's over :rotfl:

Though if the Matrix would rather hand it over to KitAid, they look a very worthwhile charity, and our collection matches their requirements........

Morning Folks! I hope you are all well?

Well last night my OH made me watch the Eddie Stobart program that is currently running every Friday. Not really my cup of tea (I prefer crime based programs!) but there was one bit that grabbed my attention. Not only do they have an immense network of trucks, but they have also branched out and run a port and an airport - now they didn't say which ones, but was just wondering if they would be a potential contact for shipping the kits? Does anyone have any link to Eddie Stobart?

*off to do a little research*

Right, am back (didn't take too long!) The port they run is on Merseyside and the airport is at Southend.
    start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!

I was kind of thinking the other way round - that KitAid will give you kits to help you meet your target, so that they can be donated specifically to this project.

what about Trading standards - they are always confiscating replica stuff - woul;d that be any good - could you approach their bigger offices or the organisation as a whole and see if they will donate any - i seem to remember they did donate some themselves last year.
