Well I've come home to more earring orders and sold a few more bits off the website. will update total in a minute.

I never had a 100 day challenge, but my challenges were:-

Get the house decluttered and redecorated by xmas, well kitchen has been decluttered and redecorated, bathroom is nearly finished being decorated. Living room has been de cluttered and redecorated next, ds1 bedroom has been decluttered.

Business wise _ well I want to beable to come off incapacity benefits eventually, and my first goal is to get to building a profit of £20 a week (the amount I'm legally allowed to earn whilst getting incapacity benefit) The most in the five years I have been making jewellery is £8.00 a week, last year I only earn't £1.50 a week :(. When I last did my accounts 2 weeks ago I was up to £17.50 a week profit so getting there. Once I hit the £20 step, I will then look into taking the next step.

Yes, well I'm not ready to do that, or starting burning bras as an expression of older womens lib, bras are needed :rotfl:

This needs some serious thought - but I agree that burning bras is not on (though I don't need them strictly speaking and have manage to lose mine somewhere; and no, not what you think - this time are long in the past).

Problem with protest today is that neo-liberals fragment everything - so when it is down to the individual effcetive collective action is not likely. In other words this will have to be a revolution of a different kind. One way to think about it is:

What can we withdraw as individuals and how much is it going to hurt? In other words what is our agency/power (and yes, anyone has agency).

I am ready to join you on principle - I knew that I won't have dicent pension (if any) for the last ten years - but this is because I am good at reading the signs (I am a sociologist after all). But this people I found annoying on all counts - they hit our age group, they hit young people, the hit older people as well. As a friend said - we are all equal, qwe are all shaffted.

PS: Also I did have my proper revolution over 20 years ago; like natural child birth it is over rated.

Fantasia, I seriously believe that our wants are much more useful guide than our needs - when it come to it our needs do not separate us from the rest of the animal world. I control my spending very well (and without stress and feeling deprived) because of an exercise to figure out what I call 'protected wants'.

As to doing something, it sound like you need something really mad - like: doing a pilgrimage; going to a flamenco dancing course; learning to do belly dancing (and performing in public); writing a stormy romantic novel (allowed to use the schema for that); colouring your hair royal purple; starting a commune...

    Well, throwing ideas around...

    Loving this - thank you,

I think if we do anything it needs to be targetted at a tight specific group that this action affects, to a large extent outside straight party guidelines, base it purely on people of all political persuasions who've been landed in this mess with not sufficient time to do anything about it. The reason we're in this mess is a combination of the last governments interpretation of how to equalise retirement age of men & women, followed on by liberal democrats and conservatives moving it to 66 and not allowing short enough notice. We've been obviously an easy hit money wise, the labour decided to equalise by moving women's retirement to 65 (not bridging the gap and both reducing at an average), and then lib dems and conservatives decided to make it even worse. Politicians of all parties don't like women in their 50's who've done as they asked and planned their retirement unfortunatley.
  • OK - managed to get omn to new website on non-secure PC in work but will have to take netbook in to keep up @ lunchtimes.

For the record - my 100 day challenge went t*ts up BUT

    I'm back at work
I'm back to my old self & not a gibbering wreck
    I do feel motivated
I am enthused about my work again
I have so many thoughts buzzing round my head it's going to explode.

So even if the 100 days itself was a failure for me the motivation it gave me was priceless.

Actually, that sounds a lot like a success to me!
