I've got my hand up for another place for our mutterings and ideas.:j
Getting back to the moneysaving stuff does anyone know what sort of herbs I could put into my bread to give it a bit of flavour?
Sx
Do you have any dried italian mixed herbs? That would be really nice with some olives added.
Thanks for the inspiration I was just about to make some bread so think I might make some foccacia as well. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. I am in favour of private forum but would like to keep this forum going so that more people can find us.
Off to ask universe for a man and a shredder....

Caraway is used a lot in german and scandinavian breads, especially rye breads, it's a distinctive taste and goes well when eaten with cheese and meats.
Otherwise my family likes ciabatta and the other breads using olive oil rather than herbs, although you can add chopped olives &/or sundried tomatoes. Not really herbs. The ciabatta dough makes a nice pizza base too.0 -

ok 6 pork chops
3 huge streaks
8 minted lamb chops
5 chicken breasts
piece of beef (has been cut in half.)
There are 4 of usNeed to start cutting down now to start getting the debt back into shape
For the pork chops, not sure how money saving, but this is our favorite treat recipe. Cook the chops until browned in a small frying pan using butter, remove the chops to serve, then deglaze the pan using single cream & dijon whole grain mustard (to taste) to make the sauce. Serve with steamed rice or new potatoes and either a side salad or some steamed veggies. We actually don't like mustard normally, but love thisCould be worth freezing a couple of the chops to save for a future treaty meal with your OH
To stretch the chicken breasts, if you do a stir fry you use a lot less chicken per person compared to using them whole.
If you make your own yoghurt, we often use low fat yoghurt as a basis of a sauce for with chicken rather than cream, it does have a different taste, slightly acidic, but less calories and fat than using cream. Yoghurt is easy to make, we use Tesco value UHT skimmed milk to make it, but once a fortnight pay more for a nice 'starter' yoghurt.0 -
oh thank you the pork chops sound mmmmmBoiler pot £30.92/£10000

Roasted garlic and rosemary is my current fave, although partial to rye bread with caraway.
Roasted tomato and pesto - Make bread and roll it out after first proving. Spread with chopped roasted toms and pesto. Roll up like a swiss roll and put in loaf tin for its second proving.
Feta cheese chopped into cubes with oregano.
And strong cheddar cubes, parmesan and chopped chilli.
MMMMMMM - off to put breadmaker on
