I did see wooden rolling pins and other baking supplies at the pound store the other day. I used to use a glass, too, but after I dropped one and broke it (thanks to greasy hands!) I thought I'd better get a proper one.
Also, a trick I tried for reviving some stale homemade bread: brush all over with milk and pop in a moderate oven for about 10 minutes or so (depending on the size). I tried this with some whole wheat bread I made and it came out great!
I never worry too much about sell-by dates on things that were traditionally kept in cellars for months (root vegetables, apples, cabbage, eggs, etc). DH is really picky and concerned about these things so I try to conceal from him that I'm using, say, cabbage that's been in the fridge for a month or eggs that were out of date last week. As long as it still looks like it's supposed to and doesn't smell funny, I'm not worried. Nobody's been sick yet.0 -
Can you freeze scones? Yes, if you can divert the family's attention until they are cool enough to bag up and freeze, then get them in the freezer. Once they are spotted, there is no way you will get them frozen."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Just made a batch of scones which are about to go into the oven. I am in the mood to bake and make and wonder if I can make scones but freeze them instead of baking them?

Hi lucylema,
There's an earlier thread on freezing scones that may help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.
