What a crappy situation for you Alyth, she's taking the !!!! to expect you to fit your life around her dog because she can't be bothered. Now someone else is involved i hope they can take some of the strain of dealing with this lady off you and at least others are taking notice so can back up the neglect claims if you decide to report her.

Seems like she's improved more out of shame/fear of being reported than sudden realisation about her responsibility for the dog's welfare, so i hope if you pass on Neraks offer of a home she's willing to give up the burden to someone else so everyone can be happier.

That is disgraceful. How can a person treat a 14 year old dog like that? It sickens me. Contact the RSPCA so the dog can get somewhere better to live!

The one problem is that the dog may be used/actually feel secure in the situation now and there is no certainty he would be happy if taken away from it. Damn shame. And bless you Nerak for the offer.
  • Most dogs are quite adaptable and im sure hewould settle if he had the chance. Not much of a life is it.

I understand you feel for the dg but ... does she realised how much a dog care would have costed her? Way more than a bottle or two of wine....

Pls consider Nerak' s offer and discuss giving up the dog with the current owner...
I wonder what the owner would do if Alyth said she could no longer look after the dog?

What she did in the past i expect.Leave it on it's own.

I hope that one day, when she gets old, no one wants to bother with her and she is on her own for days on end with no company and little care. Then she might get some idea of what the poor dog went through.

Dogs need more love and attention in their twilight years, not less.I cannot get my head round how someone can only love a dog when it is fit and active.

She would leave it on its own - I'm having a bit of an email battle with her at the moment. I emailed her saying I could do Wed/Thur & Sat am - I work 9 hours on a Sat from 12, then come home, walk my own dog, etc. She emailed me last night asking if there was any chance I could go he walk on Fri am - I replied back no, she replied oh well I will have to think of something.......so I'm back under massuve pressure again. Personally I'm happy to leave the dog in his own home, and run up and down to her hour the six times a day or whatever I was doing previously, spend time with him, and make sure he's okay. Last time I got a friend to come with me and went to check on him in my jammies at 11pm.

But like others have said I cannot comprehend how anyone can just leave a dog on its own.... my dog is my life, my reason for living, it's not just the dog issues but the lack of respect she is showing to me, in assuming that I have no life and can drop everything to look after the poor dog.
  • This woman needs to stop using you as a free pet sitting service. You are going way out of neighbourly nicesties...you need to tell her if she cannot dedicate the required time for the dog then she needs to rehome him. You love l,ooking after him btu you have your own dog and it is not your responsiblity to look after her dog too. Id lay it on the line. seriously, she will keep taking advantage of you..i have been in this situation and i just ended up saying i either report them or they hand the animal over to me to rehome. They chose the latter and the dog is now with a family and gets 2 hour runs daily.

please speak up to this woman good luck x
