Thank you so much for all your replies. I did have a bit of a sleepness night, but I've been down and seen him twice already this morning, he's had his breakfast and lots of cuddles, and the second time I took my dog down and the two of them played together for ages.

It absolutely breaks my heart to know that he was locked in that tiny room. He actually gets on well with my dog, I'm going to think about it a bit more as to whether I can take him.

Is the house not destroyed with his wee & poo when he's locked up for so long?

Just imagine what life would be like for animals if we didn't have the RSPCA.It does not bear thinking about. There is so much cruelty ,even with them,we would be like places like china, spain, south korea etc where things are horrific.

I have always found them to be hel[pful and they have responded to my calls.Recently I rang their local branch to ask if they could use a quantity of tinned cat food,as my friend who runs a hedgehog hospital where i help out,had them donated but they are the wrong type for hoggies, they need a specific chicken based one.I had contacted the cats protection weeks ago, twice, but no one ever came.

Withing hours the chap came and was so grateful,he also told me we are getting a charity shop in our village soon so i think i might just be volunteering there!

Would it help make your mind up if we all started chanting
    'alyth take the pooch'?

    :D
I feel so desperately sorry for this old fella, he has no control over anything that happens to him and all he wants is a bit of love judging by the way he acts with you.

It's hard to know what to do, he must be very lonely, dogs are by nature pack animals and they seek company whether it's canine or human. To be left by himself for days is almost as bad as starving him.

On the other hand, rescues can be stressful places for dogs especially oldies who may not cope well. A foster type arrangement would probably be best for him but are there places like that available?

I think you need to do something OP, it's just not fair on the poor soul to leave him. You dont even know if the woman looks after him and feeds him when she's there. If she just wants rid maybe he's not getting fed as he should be?

Arnold was a grey squirrel living in a cage but let out one hour a day. The RSPCA "rescued" him and said they would find a homefor him. He has never been heard of again. So hes addad to the growing list of the missing including Shergar and now Arnold.

How about a new thread? PLEASE PLEASE dont get this thread either moved or closed. Its just not fair.

to highjack a thread where everyone is worried for an animal and a lovely OP who is trying to help is just unfair.

I'd like to know what's happening to our old friend
  • I'm absolutely horrified by this story...I will join in the "take the pooch" chant! How is he doing now, is there any update? :-(

    I was wondering that!
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?
  • Poor old boy, that owner doesn't deserve him.
I would be half tempted to just take him, then say "really sorry, he passed away while were away"
But in reality, it may be worth considering if you could take him on, it sounds like he would be far better off with you and your Rottie, at least he'd be wanted and cared for.
I would definately consider reporting her, as he is not getting anything he needs from her.

My boys thank you for caring for this old fella. The world needs more people like you.
