    Desktop:
    semperon 3000+
    2GB DDR RAM
    80 GB hdd
    XP
    USB wireless adapter

about 1min 10sec to useable desktop, connected to network and loading a webpage (but it is 5-ish yrs old ;))

    Laptop:
    Dual Core 1.73MHz
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    80GB hdd
    Vista
    internal wifi

seems to take forever before the hdd stops thrashing :( but I blame the OS. Prob 2 mins to get to loading a webpage.

Interesting... I have two boot managers to contend with and a pointless "press any key" message from the IDE controller, but hitting the keys as quick as I can...:

    Arch Linux - 45s
    Windows 7 - 50s
    Windows XP - 65s

I'm sure that should be faster on a Core i7 920 with 6GB RAM...

The bottle neck is your HDD (IDE or SATA)
To get below 19 seconds usually you require a SSD

That makes sense - it drags my "Windows performance" score down to 5.9! I think an SSD (or a couple in a RAID array) will be my next upgrade... when I'm feeling rich!

Old clunker which runs my website 6mins 45 secs, that includes typing in the password. Insert joke, 10,000 characters in password, :rotfl:

That does include CCleaner, Avira and WAMP.

    22 seconds to load IE8.

Plus side is, it only uses 30w sitting there, and in any case it is not running 24/7.
    Move along, nothing to see.
