Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning :hello:

I woke up at 4.30am and thought 'oh no, it's today' with a feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach rolleyes.gif I think I need to concentrate on the positives, so here they are -

The animals are cleaned out.
The house is clean and tidy.
The money that'll land in my bank account when it's over :D

We've picked/pulled up most of the veg from the garden. We've left the sprouts in, fenced them off and let the chickens loose on the veg patch. They're loving it :D We're still picking tomatoes and cougettes from the greenhouse, I'm surprised they're still growing but they're doing well.

I've got my fake pills - thanks elona, fab idea :D Morrison's multi-vitamins, in case you were wondering, lol.

Still feel sick at the thought of the next few days :o

Tru - you'll be fantastic I know it. It's out of your comfort zone but that's OK, you can do this. Get one day out of the way and you'll wonder what you were worried about :D
My courgette plants are still growing too (outside no less!) - I am heartily sick of them now :rotfl:

    Morning my lovelies :D

DS has been awake since 6am and after an initial snuggle in our bed wanted to get up so here I am. It's Harvest Festival for the kids today so I am helping walking the rabble to the church and back.
Not sure what time I'll be back so no idea how much housework will get done today. Still I decluttered 3 drawers yesterday, little and often I think is my key otherwise I tend to feel overwhelmed at what needs sorting.

Tea tonight should be baked fish in tomato sauce. We've had stuff in tomato sauce 2 nights running so might offer a baked spud instead ;)

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning all,

Not raining here :j, although we are bound to get some at some point today. Tru good luck for today, just keep thinking about when its over and you can relax with a beer .

Off to work today, will have a quick tidy round before I go and put the dw on, will see what washing there is to do later on.

I am giving blood mid morning, so will need to make sure I have something to eat before I go.

Dinner tonight is HM shepherds pie, which I made last week, took it from the freezer last night, I love hm ready meals :T, dd had a quorn cottage pie, which we also made last week, made 6 of them. I also have some veg in the freezer from the garden, so will just have to steam that, nice and easy tonight.

Can't remember who said about having cavity wall insulation, but we are having the chap round on monday, we had it at our last house and it made a huge difference to the heat in the house and the bills, hopefully we can get this house done too.

OK better get on lots to do, have good days all xx

Raining and still quite dark here. Last day of work today then on days off until Monday! Quiet night last night as DH at meeting and DS1 at Cadets, so they were fed at their nan and grandad's and I just dug HM lasagne out of the freezer and made a cous cous salad to go with it - nice easy dinner! I did remember to get the beef out of the freezer for tonights casserole/stew, so may do some dumplings to go with it, also with mash and veg. Also made HM bread so boys had that for breakfast this morning, made a tray of choc krispie cakes last night to for pack-ups.

Will need to be doing all the normal household/cleaning stuff over the next few days, we're away this weekend, but not too far so will be able to come home Sat morn whilst DH at work if I need to.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning all,
I had my walls cavity insulated a couple of years ago and its brilliant .My house is rarely cold even when we had the really bad weather earlier this year. For the past two winters I have only put my heating on for an hour at a time as and when needed.I used to have it on for three hours in the morning and again in the evening but now I no longer have it on timed anymore.I had extra thickness put in the loft, and a new boiler installed and my bills have dropped considerably.
Best thing I ever did to reduce the bills I think.
Well its looking a bit grey outside at the moment and very damp.I have to run my DGD to college this morning so i will find out about her new boyfriend no doubt.no shopping to buy thogh so I'll steer clear of the shops .So far this month I have only spent £1.45,I am shopping from my freezer to try and 'run' it down a bit before christmas.
Hope everyone has a good day mid week already where does the time fly to I wonder
cheers all,and good luck to tru

Morning All! D&DD - love the pic! I know just what you mean about a blur - we've had Fitz (new border-collie) five days now and he he still won't stay in one place long enough for a decent photo!
DH has gone to do just one day's work for his former boss today. I still can't get used to him being here all the time, so I feel strangely excited about today!
The man is due at 9am to fit my kitchen blinds - and then (apart from the floor) that's it - new units, new ceilings, new lights, tiling done, all walls and woodwork repainted - and only taken since the end of June! We even went to the flooring place and brought samples home yesterday so maybe, soon....
Not sure what I'm doing today OS wise. I need to check through the larder and meal-plan. The ironing pile is on the attack once more, threatening to take over the cupboard. My paperwork pile needs sorting. two doggies will need a good walk - not so easy as my chest infection lingers on. And then there's my coursework for Friday...
Lunch will be whatever I grab ( piece of cheese probably) and dinner will be the last of the lamb reappearing as shepherd's pie I think.
My overlocker remains upstairs, accusing me of wasteful spending whenever I open the spare room door. Anyone here got any tips on using it? I did intend having a sewing afternoon each week, but it just ain't happening!
Oh well, ought to do something useful I suppose. Hope you all enjoy today. Take care.

    Think twice before spending anything!

    Mornin all!

Sun is breaking through here, lovely to see it!

In the midst of usual round of dw, wm, bm, yoghurt, sorting tonight's dinner and cleaning! Kittens all going over the next week or so, so things should be a little bit tidier - they pull everything over or apart!

Girls all gone off, ds doesn't have college on weds, so he's still snoozing! I'm meeting a friend for lunch then I'm off to work till 9pm! Ah well, pays the bills!

Breakfast: crumpets (bought loads of reduced ones the other day!)
Lunch: marmite sarnies, cheese, apple, choc muffin and raisins
Dinner: baked potatoes with cheese and beans and lovely farm sausages, followed by some of the reduced nectarines I picked up!

Have a great day all, hugs where needed xxx
