Morning All.
Its dull and damp here today, OH and the boys have just run out the door.
I am getting a new car today. Well, new to me, its 12 years old! My first car when I was 17 was six years old, and I thought it was ancient! But its nice, its a BMW and was very cheap, and in very good condition, and it belonged to OH good friend, and has been looked after well. The plan is that it will last me six months or so until I have saved enough for a new car - I have been saving for months and really don't want to get finance in case the recession gets worse. Some of the quotes for insurance were crazy money though, in one case £1600 - I never even paid that much insurance on my other car when it was brand new with a 2litre engine, the name BMW seems to put pounds on, even though its not even worth £1000!
Plan for the day is to clean up, my house is looking pretty shabby, I have really let things slip since I started feeling worse, and I need to sort myself out. I never really got much done yesterday as I crawled into bed and hid there. The hospital apptointment went well and I am excited about the help they are offering me, working.
Good luck today Tru, although you're already away by now!
Happy 10th Birthday to BB's DD
Hugs Spoons Hi Fives to all.

I know what you mean - we have an old Volvo - I am amazed how much they quote us for that - maybe because its built like a tank and parts are expensive!:rotfl:0 -
Morning All
Amazing how quickly the daily thread keeps dropping down the board!
Not the best start to the day, somebody broke into DH's car last night. Fortunately there was nothing of value in there, but they had a good rummage around and then left the door open in the rain :mad::mad::mad:
Then I had an unexpected flu jab this morning when I popped in to make an appointment at the doctors. One big tick off the winter 'to do' list!
I popped a hand made card round to my Mum before for her friend's birthday, and another friend was looking at it & really liked it - hopefully she'll bear me in mind for special occasions!
Little bit of tidying up this morning and then looking after a DN later for a while
Will try and catch up later

Morning All (Just)
Yes I must agree about Cavity Wall Insulation, it made a big difference espeically to a north facing wall, where stuff in the wardrobes turned mouldy, now NP.
Had an email to say our roof isn't right for the free Solar Panels:mad:
Due to them being "free" they only offer standard sizes and we have a piece in the roof making a T. Annoying as my neighbour has them, but she does not have the "T". Worth a try though, ask two other companies offering them, well the worst they can say is no.
Had the last of the mince as a cottage pie last night, tonight we are off to meet some old workmates (well I was their boss:D) to grab an early dinner at a pub near town. Lunch could be salad but bet DH says too cold! So may be a sandwich again.
Off in the 'van to Beverley this weekend, hope it dries up. Will have a mooch round their market on Saturday.
Back to sorting the house insurance out again, needs >60 days and because a couple of houses had water damage in 2007 due to the pumping station for the sewers failing, have to declare it even though it is a Yorkshire Water problem, trying to get them off their Bums is not easy, now threatening a press campaign.
((hugs)), spoons, Hi-5's as wanted.

I'm TRAUMATISED!
Yesterday morning I pulled back the curtains and saw a spider hanging down in front of my face, but it shot up its thread and I lost it
. Decided just before going to bed last night I would check and see if it had come out again, and it had. Managed to catch it in a glass and bit of paper, yay, but then as I was carrying it to put out a window... It escaped
Had minor heart attack, dropped everything, saw offending spider on the floor scuttling off and jumped on it. So all better and I won in the end, but god the fright. Thank heavens it ran away from me when it escaped, and not towards!
Today is spent at work, continuing to try and eat my way through the freezer, and checking for unwanted invertebrates. Hope all is well with you lot. And yes, car insurance is ridiculous, when my parents looked for quotes to insure my brother they were getting ones that basically assumed he was going to write off the car three times in one year!0 -

Well our car is a 2ltr Ford Mondeo and on a comparison website some places were quoting over £1000  For a car that's 8 years old. It's daylight robbery........
Back from Toys R Us - bought DD's Christmas pressies
Barbie camper van and a Barbie doll to go with it.
Took DS with his class to the Harvest Festival service - was really nice to see all the kids singing etc. Vicar is a lovely woman bout my age - makes a change from some of the older and dare I say it "stuffy" men that I've seen in the past.
Need to crack on with cleaning the bathroom and dusting this afternoon. Weather is sunny but can see a massive black cloud looming - don't want any more of the wet stuff here thank you.
Bargainbird - Happy 10th Birthday to you DD - double figures woo hoo!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
