    Rings still not found. I now know there are other things missing too. I have lost;
    engagement ring
    eternity ting
    my mother's ring
    gold cross and chain
swarosky silver chain with pendant and earings :(

I am hoping this is all that is missing. Really hoping they have been left in a case in the loft.....

Yesterday and today I have mainly been helping DD to look after a poorly 3 yr old and a feisty one year old. He took his first steps yesterday so it was definitely worth being there to see his joy.

Now that I am home I am going to price up insurance for my car and Mr P's pickup. His insurance quote has come through and it is doubled

  • Lovely that you were there to witness DGS' first steps. Hope DGD is better soon.

Also hope the jewellery turns up. Is DH able to go in to the loft for you? Xx

  • It's horrible when things you love go missing. And weird when you only find them whilst looking for something else ! Hope they turn up safely - eventually.
Somewhere in our house are all the missing things - lonely earrings, singleton socks, books, a story I wrote pre-computers, my daughter's first sunglasses, etc etc. Hope we don't have to move house to find them !

Hope you find them soon pooh. Biscuits sound yum. We had ANZAC biscuits with an Aussie friend on Sunday and I had forgotten how lush they were. My mum used to make them all the time when we were small

Thanks folks, I still haven't found my jewellery. It is becoming quite worrying. I can't really remember where I last saw them.

Today I stubbed my big toe and I think it is broken or badly bruised. It is twice it's usual size.

DGD has been poorly for over a week. It is terrible to see a three year old in such pain. She saw a doctor on Monday who said she didn't have much of an infection but by yesterday she was still exactly the same. Desperate for pain relief :( I persuaded DD to take her back to GP who said she had a severe infection. Poor baby. It is horrible to see her so distressed. She hasn't been able to keep any food down for over a week too. She has antibiotics now :)

Financially, we have nothing in our personal or business accounts. A bit scary as we have direct debits to pay very soon. We have food and drinks and milk and bread. I know they are food but they are often the things we need when we have no cash. Tomorrow my benefits go into the bank so will hopefully be enough to pay the direct debits. And I have a cheque to go into business account plus £800ish is going in from cottages4you some day. They have changed their payment dates so I am totally confused.

I have decided to write our daily financial situation on the white board in the kitchen so it can be seen by Mr P and he knows exactly where we are. He is in a sort of denial about our finances. (He seems to think we can live like we did when we were both working full time........) And we really need to save up for flights back to USA in October. We rarely have anyone else here so not much chance of anyone else seeing it. And if someone did come I can wipe it off quickly enough.

BUT first extra payment paid on mortgage, only £25 but it is a start. AND I paid £200 off the card debt too :) Think I paid off too much as we have nothing now.

Need to write menu plan today......

  • A great idea about the kitchen board. Some people need things written down to believe them, rather than just words.

    Poor toe !

Attic and all suitcases have been checked and still no jewellery. I have now completely reorganised our bedroom in case it had fallen , got stuck somewhere. No sign of anything yet. I don't want to claim on insurance in case they turn up somewhere.

I tried eat a biscuit with wheat flour in it last night after weeks of no gluten or wheat and have been cursed with the hugest swollen tummy possible today. Pain isn't so bad as the bloated feeling:D

No spends today and only collection money at church yesterday. I went through all my bags and pockets looking for a five pound note I lost and found £13 in cash. Mr P had two pints and I put £2 in collection.

    I didn't find the £5 note yet.

    I found all my jewellery:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

I just looked up our insurance policy and was working out how much everything was worth and was it worth making a claim. Mr P went upstairs and looked behind chests of drawers etc in case the box had fallen down. Then, I suddenly remembered having a bag of knitting with me in Scotland last year that I hadn't touched since because I broke my ribs then forgot about it. In the bottom of the bag was my box of jewellery. I can't describe how happy I am. :D

On Monday Mr P and I had a very serious talk about money saving. He now seems to have accepted we need to cut back a bit to save for the next wedding in USA.

We have had some major outgoings since we got back, £300 excess for my car after it was hit when parked and new front needed, £70 to garage after Mr P put petrol in the deisel car. OOps, £400 on wood pellets, £90 on CSMA membership and breakdown for a named vehicle and both of us on any car, £200 towards DS3 wedding costs, ouch! It all adds up. The RHI was around £800 which didn't quite cover all the extra outgoings...

We are doing a budget planner today, have written a meal plan and I have done a freezer inventory. We are going to try to survive until 13th with as little spending as possible. I think we will need to ask DS2 to give or lend us a little towards food, his keep etc this month. He , like us is trying to save for flights to USA in October.
