Thank you all, for the lovely welcome back :)

Things are continuing to improve for us. DS2 has gone away for the weekend with some old friends. This is a great move but we know he can't sustain it for long and are prepared for him to feel down again after his return. BUT it is wonderful that he has regained the confidence to go out again.

Next news is more MSE related.

We have been awarded just over £2000 PPI payment from RBS from two loans we had around 2004 and 2002. :j:j:j:j:j

AND we have made a claim against coop for a packaged account we didn't ask to buy. We have been awarded around £500. I never expected to get so much so we are :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

On a downer: we received a bill from one garage for £900 and the guy who has done Mr P's truck sent a bill for almost £1500. Both bills arrived the day we went away so we had a good few sleepless nights as a result.

It really does come in with one hand a go out with the other. :o The £1500 is an old bill which was supposed to be paid by Mr P from his business account. It never had enough to pay it and I didn't want to pay it from our personal account as it is a business vehicle. In the end we have to pay it so he will be paid first and anything left we will use for a payment towards the other and keep a little by for wood pellets and maybe something special for Christmas dinner. Maybe a joint of beef :)

We have decided that there will be no pressies this year but we have said that before and then bought a little gift as a token. It is nice to have something to open.

DDIL continues to spend more time in hospital than at home. She has not been well so we were very lucky to have time to spend with her when she was doing well. She is back in hospital again and they still don't seem to know what is wrong but she is racked with severe abdominal pain again.

I am busy making angels for Christmas trees for DDIL and DS1 so I will post them as soon as they are finished. I got the idea and pattern from Mortgage Free in Three.

As Mr P says, 'it just shows how much the banks made out of us'. He has just said 'Now I know why we have always been skint' :D I have just told him how much we have had back over the last few years.

We had almost £5000 about two years ago which was used to pay for Mr P's pick-up in Perth. I think it was May 12 but maybe 11. And now in excess of £2000 plus the CPP money we received and also some from MBNA. I will get all the old paperwork out and add it all up.

This last lot I didn't expect to have anything owed to us but just kept sending them letters until I received a reply a couple of months ago. They didn't answer my first three letters asking for information so I sent it 'signed for' and lo and behold I received a reply :D
I completed just one form for three old bank loans and received an offer for two of them. The third account didn't qualify, I think because I made a claim on it and received more then the PPi cost us.

  • Brilliant news about the payouts, just a shame its owed straight back out again! Then again, the peace of mind that those things can be paid must be worth it alone Xx

:j:jThe peace of mind has meant that I slept right through the night for the first time in about 10 years:j:j

The old car bill wasn't on here as it is Mr P's business vehicle repairs.

And the new bill is for Mr. P's vehicle again, plus the bill for DS1's MOT work he had done last February. If the bill had been delivered promptly DS1 would have had the money to pay. he can'e now but we are very happy to pay it for him.

Last night Mr P used the voucher for an experience I bought him for his birthday in June to buy an experience for me and DD. :D

    Re-gifting at its best :D

The second cheque from RBS arrived today, so £495 to go into the bank today. We really are whooping the banks.

Wow to the payouts and shame it all has to go out again. But as was previously said peace of mind is priceless. It's great if you're sleeping well because of the lack of anxiety. Long may it last.
