It was in the UK, so no data roaming.
The fact it started at 4am is also odd because he was asleep and the phone wasn't touched. Almost like it was an automatic re-attempt???
The E72 email program will attempt to resend failed messages. First time it waits 1 minute, 2nd time it waits 5 minutes etc. etc which would tie up with an attempt at 4am.
Our corporate Voda contract has the same 500MB limit. We've all had an email from IT saying some of our users have racked up 4 figure bills due to using their phone as a modem, emailing videos etc. etc.0 -

As its only a 1 minute video, one attempt at 4am could make sense as a resend but not hours of sending.And watching !!!!!!. Lots and lots of !!!!!!.

I have 512mb allowance on Orange for my HTC Touch HD. I have 4 email accounts, each set to check for emails every 5 minutes, I do a fair bit of web browssing, and use a GPRS connection for Tom Tom Traffic. I have also done exactly the same of videoing school play and emailing, 6 clips totalling about 11 minutes in length, and have never exceeded my allowance.
Something sounds wrong.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

The Nokia E72 sends the emails the same way as sms, puts them in an outbox and keeps pushing them out until its successful. The only way to stop it is to delete the message from the outbox or cancel it. Don't know why if he was at home he wasn't connected to his home wifi ? that way it would have sent the email over the internet and not via vodafone.0
