Hi everyone,
Just got out of hospital with him today.. finally have some answers, he has been diagnosed as having an over active thyroid sp? and also coeliacs disease which has completley threw me as I never even thought of that, he is doing better and i now have the huge task of restyling his whole diet.
I'm pleased you got a definitive answer. Obviously it's a shame he has these conditions but now you know about them, you can manage them. Onwards and upwards now.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Glad he is better now, i know how scary it can be having a child in hospital.
You must be relieved to have a definitive answer even if it means rejigging his whole diet.

So glad you have some answers at last. I hope he is feeling better soon and that you find the new path you are on easier to cope with.0

Hi everyone,
Just got out of hospital with him today.. finally have some answers, he has been diagnosed as having an over active thyroid sp? and also coeliacs disease which has completley threw me as I never even thought of that, he is doing better and i now have the huge task of restyling his whole diet. we have a follow up appointment in two weeks to discuss the medication hes been given and to see if it improves, and also with a nutritionist aswell. thanks so much for everyones help and advice, its been a tiring battle and hopefully he will now be back to the happy little boy he is .
Poor little sausage, hope he gets back to his usual self too.
I echo other posts in saying, sorry he has these conditions, but so glad they have finally dignosed them. It won't be long before you are fully researched on Coeliac disease, and catering for him will become second nature (my poor Gran was with my Gramps when he was based in Egypt during the war, and her twin babies were dignosed with coeliac, so found catering for them a complete mare at the time!)**This space is available to rent**0 -
hope he is feeling better now!
knowledge is power hun and now you know what you are dealing with - research on the net will help you enormously!
my son was dairy allergic and intolerant to most colourings and I didnt have the internet to turn to! so it was trial and error - but we got through it and I learned a hell of a lot about nutrition and portion sizes on the way! I think the whole family benefited!
I hope the little guy soon gets well - and you too! I bet you are feeling a bit guilty - Dont! you can only do your best and I am sure that is what you HAVE been doing!0 -
I have a thyroid issue (the opposite, though, underactive) and coeliac disease. And I felt awful before I was properly diagnosed, but feel so much better now it's all sorted. And it will be the same for you and your son - in a month you'll have moved on so much you won't believe it.
If you haven't contacted the Coeliac Society then do so asap. They can give you so much help - they even do social evenings and cookery classes to meet others with the same condition. The major supermarkets now have great Free From sections and you can also get stuff on prescription. If you contact Juvela and Glutafin they will send you free samples so get on their mailing lists!
Sorry I haven't got links but google should help.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
