I wouldn't be surprised if letters had gone out but did they say who letters had gone to?
Probably not to victims (aka customers) anyway.Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.0 -
As other users - no contact regarding DD changes or account numbers or sort codes. No idea now where my 'branch' is. The weirdest thing so far is that Paypal closed my bank account facility because it said my account was closed. Got worried at first and then realised what was going on - surely this is going to happen to a lot of people which is probably why Paypal said don't ring us ring your bank!
Come on Santander make an effort, you are just about to take over SCOTLAND (RBS Nationwide and NatWest Scotland Branches!) you can be sure they will be a lot less tolerant than us Saxons!
And just a reminder to everyone out there - Santander use 0845 numbers so mobile calls will be charged outside of your included minutes.0 -

Agreed, the Scots will be nowhere near as tolerant, good on them :T
I was not contacted to advise that the sort code was changing. I found information on their website saying it will be hassle free etc and you do not need to do anything
If you do need to ring Santander from a mobile number call 0800 buster on 01235590800 then enter 0500 31 32 33. This is their lost and stolen dept, but calls seem to go through to the general customer service line.
I am moving to lloyds tsb as I cannot trust them anymore.0 -
I have received a letter from TV Licencing with a new DD set up so Santander must be informing all originators, how those originators handle it may be a cause for concern. Letters were sent out to account holders saying that sort codes would be changing and on-line banking shows the new sort codes. Of course many ignore letters from their bank and do not look at anything apart from the account balance on screen.0

However I have several online savings accounts with other Banks/BS and they all require a linked account, that being the only way to withdraw money. I have linked my A/L account obviously with the old sort code.
Santander will not know anything about this as they are not DD's so will not be able to inform the other banks. So if they suddenly stop the old sort code, then I could be in trouble.0 -
I received a letter on Friday from AXA about my life insurance which I pay by Direct Debit from my A&L (Now Santander) account, the letter said that my Direct Debit had been cancelled by my bank !, I called AXA and they did not know what had happened so said they would set the payment up again, BUT guess what when she put it through as the 09-01-33 sort code she said that sort code was INVAILD !, we had to put it through as the old 72-50-03 sort code and it worked !.
Of course Santander will change that to the new 09-01-33 sort code and in a month it will fail again !, time to leave I think as I have around 8 Direct Debits and I don’t want any nasty letters saying I have not paid my bill as my bank has cancelled the Direct Debit !.0 -
I wonder if it is the originators and their banking systems that have not been updated. I have DD's set up and working on the new sort code without problem, some new and some transferred. All too easy to blame Santander when it may not be their fault.0

This well could be the case and http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/sort_code_checker/ lists it as valid sort code. I've had the same problem where two computers dont seem to want to talk sort some reason. So far its been sort code and bank name ("Alliance & Leicester" to "Santander") where either have been a source of problem for whatever technical reason. This should not have been the case if the their plans were thought through.0
