is this right i have been looking into a bank account for my son hes at collage so does that not make him a student

urm yes, that's right.
most teenagers at college would be ubder 18, and therefore it would be against the law to allow them to have an overdraft etc.
the incentives are for students expected to live on about 4k a year... and to encourage them to bank with whatever bank forever...

It depends what sort of course he is doing; I am doing a foundation degree at a college but am classed as a student and have a student bank account and railcard.0
