Yes most seem to offer one for Uni goers. Banks like Lloyds TSB have one for college and University students http://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/student_account.aspg
as they know that both college and Uni students can get a NUS and NUS Extra card and would need an account to manage their student finances.0 -
If Lloyds are offering that, based on my experience with Halifax (who refused to believe you can be 18 and not at university yet, although that was five years ago), I'd run with it.
Although can your son not sort this out for himself?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Iirc, and I could be wrong here. Its not that the terms of the account state they must be a university student, but that they must be enrolled on a full time course of a certain length which usually rules out everybody but those at uni.0

Im a college doing a HNC and i the halifax and natwest, have both confirmed that they accept that as a course for a student account. Its a full time course.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
yes you need to be going to uni to get a student account, also you HAVE to be over 18 to have them, since your son is in collage (I guess either 16 or 17) the bes account for him to have is the halifax card cash, it gives interest when in credit, you can have a wage paid into it and you cannot go overdrawn.
then when he turns 18 if he is going to go to uni you can then get a student account, or if he isnt then you can just get an ordinary current account0
