I agree with not wanting them to grow up too soon, but that is all she wanted, to be a 'princess' for the day.

Little People is great my kids had loads of that and I keep them for when my nephew comes over but I found by 5 they played with it much less.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • How about a dance mat. The sort that plugs into the tv. My dd is 12 now but had it about 3 years ago and there is still a lot of thumping from the bedroom when her friends come round. I think even at 5 she may enjoy this, also i think it was only about £10

if instore still have the half price rocket zoomers these go down well with boys & girls of all ages from babies to adults in my experience - & at $1.50 won't break the bank!!
Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!

just a new duvet cover and a fluffy cushion or two and a wee picture frame, I didn't meant you had to paint the place:eek:

It was the attaching the canopy to the ceiling that I couldn't see being acceptable! Daughter is 5 and her mobile is still hanging from a hanger in the wardrobe!

We also have problems galore when trying to attach things to the wall - these modern houses don't have real walls - its a right pain in the proverbial!

Anyway, as she is my youngest, I'm not quite ready for her to grow up into fluffy cushions etc, she still likes the Pooh Bear stickarounds and duvet covers which is fine by me. Maybe she can grow up at 6 - that's next year sorted.

I have just counted a total of 3 dance mats. One standalone, one double (which is useless as it doesn't beat to the music and is impossible to work out which player got more correct hits) and one that plugs into the Xbox. I suppose that a second that plugs in would be a possibility so that they can play together - will look into that, thanks

Oh yes, also got a duplicate standalone still in its box waiting for either recycling for a birthday party or selling on ebay!

Which store are we talking about? or is instore the shop name?

Anything at £1-50 is definitely worth considering.

Hi! I dont post very often, but am an avid post reader!

My daughter was 5 last week, and she had a Leapster (next one up from a LeapPad) It is recommended for ages 4-8, so I hope she will get a good few years out of it! Well, I was concerned that she wouldnt bother with it - but she loves it!! We got her the Disney Princess game which is fab! In one of the games Cinderella dances out letters of the alphabet, and she has to copy the letters with the pen. Great as she has just started to learn her letters at school!

The other thing you may not of thought of as it is a 'boys' toy is Magnetix! Doesnt look much for the price but it is great! Fabulous stuff! Quite expensive, but you can often pick it up in the sales! Hope this helps!

    What about Lego?
My son (5) and my daughter (7) both love playing with this. They used to have the larger duplo but recently we moved on to the "grown up" lego. They spend many happy hours building houses, cars, designing palaces, etc. I remember loving lego as a child with my brother, too.
