We are struggling for ideas for our soon to be 5 year old daughter. With a 10 year older sister, she already has lots of handme downs.
We don't mind spending up to £50 (its budgeted for) but ONLY if it is something she really wants/needs/value for money etc. As MSE, we don't spend money for the sake of it.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
She already has bike/scooter/doll's house/access to XBOX

Box of dressing up clothes? I have been picking up some good bits for dd from ebay and also some cheap outfits in the stores.
Or make up a big art and craft kit for her, there are lots of small craft/sewing/knitting sets around for a £5 so you buy a few of those plus paints, notebooks, pens etc. and put them into one large box.0 -
what about £5 pound coins, one for every year of her life, then 4 other presents which make up 5 presents = her age again. Dressing up stuff always goes down a treat as they can mix & match, especially fairy costumes, that can double as getting married costumes or party dresses etc....
and dont forget the "stalk shoes" .... aka in my house as high heels.... she says mommy your shoes are on stalks... hence stalk shoes..
bless em

My DD is 5 tomorrow :j and she loves dressing up and walking round in her 'clippy cloppy' shoes (they make a noise on the floor!).
She loves putting clips etc in her hair too, so we've bought her a Girls World and a swing for the garden as she likes to sit on it and sing etc.....though I doubt she's going to get much use this weekend!
Hope your DD has a lovely day.0 -
We already have a huge box of dressing up clothes - including the obligatory clippy-cloppy shoes. We also have a problem as she is large for her age (around size 7-8 clothes) and many dressing up outfits are simply too small.
We have 4 different fairy outfits, witch, police, nurse, princess, welsh outfit, indian style dress, dancer skirt plus and assortment of adult cast offs an charity shop finds.
We have craft stuff coming out of our ears. If you look at the playroom, you can't move for stuff - I could open a small nursery in there!
She did mention a styling head as big sis has one and I have one I picked up in argos last year in a sale which cost around £5 and I think will be 'sold' to auntie to give although I'm getting desparate now so we may hang on to it for ourselves.
Big sis has a box with hair bits and bobs. I thought she would enjoy putting one together as her present.
She would love a swing but, try as we might, our garden is not suitable. Its not very big and on a slope (it was the only thing I didn't like about the house when we moved here). We already have a ELC trampoline and large trampoline won't fit, might be possible to fit in a larger slide.
An outdoor wendy house/shed would also be popular but again space and cost are prohibative.
Books are always good too, so will be trawling The Book People for inspiration. Already picked up Percy the Park Keeper for her stocking.
She has a Baby Anabelle clone - anyone know of a cheap source of dolls clothes as she plays with her a bit and of course we have the old fall backs of Barbie and Polly Pocket. (Although I do get sick of dressing the dolls and standing on small, spikey bits of plastic with bare feet)
OH work collegue suggested a camera but I think she is a little bit young yet.
And then its XMAS :eek:7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

I was in Toys R Us the other day and they had so many Anabelle clone clothes at around a 1/3 of the price as well as the accesories like prams etc. Argos can also be very good for that sort of thing as well.0 -
The other things my DD plays with are her kitchen or her keyboard and stool from ELC

Perhaps you could post a list tomorrow;)dora37 wrote:Hope your DD has a lovely day.
She's asked for a Barbie cake so I have taken a Barbie image from a sample border roll in Homebase which I have covered in sticky backed plastic. Will make choc cake and cover with bright pink icing - voila!7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

Thanks, I did consider this but it says 3-6 years and, as she is already tall for her age it's probably too small for her already. I would probably only buy it at £40 if she was 3 and at the start of the age range. We already have a stand-alone, table top keyboard which is the worse for wear so might consider replacing that if we don't come up with something else.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

Trip to ToyrRus planned for Sunday so will keep my eyes open.
Did the argos pram thing for Xmas last year (from their summer sale of course)
I think we have the full set now, bath, high-chair, car seat, pram, moses basket, travel cot, changing station, baby swing - a very spoilt baby doll!7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

Thank you. Her school are having a 'wear you own clothes' day tomorrow to 'encourage' the children to bring in items for the harvest festival....she thinks it's because its her birthday!
Another thing she loves playing with is her pink boom box....she just pops a dance/party cd in and dances and stomps in front of the full length mirror in her bedroom.0
