our dd loved her leappad and it was great in helping teach her to read.
IMHO well worth it. I saw a thread somewhere that the original ones were 15 pounds?
Half what we paid, but 30 was still worth it.
We let our dd have our old digital camera and she loves it, can take as many pics as she likes, and all it needs are rechargeable batteries. it's 1.3 megapixel, but good enough quality for her (she's 7 now) to be pleased with it.
I bet there are a lot of good digi cameras for under 50 pounds now.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

We have 4 huge boxes of Little People which I think are similar to the playmobil idea - they have been fantastic but I think she is beginning to grow out of them now in favour of Polly Pocket/Barbie.
Would recommend Little People though from about 2 years. We had Dolls House, train track, fairground, farm plus a few other little sets. They weren't cheap but they have definitely been value for money.
Well back to now....
Considering a CD player. Like the look of personalised CD but it is expensive and suspect that the name won't be there.
Will look into leap pad as our first proper reading book came home from school today! Her cousin had one so maybe there is a second-hand one availableI think that the books were quite expensive though - will scan ebay for those before deciding.

Hi, We bought a leap pad for my DD and she doesn't use it - she'd rather go to the library.
For her 5th birthday back in July we got her a Barbie Shiver & a dressing up outfit with cloppy shoes and a Carebear DVD all bought from Ebay. She loved them. Anything barbie and she's as happy as a pig in mud.
Hope your DD has a great birthdayKeep Calm:cool: Smile, Enjoy!

tesco have disney princess bed canopies, at 40 ppounds they are a bit steep.
But..it would be dead easy to make your own, and give her a mini bedroom makeover for her b/day:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

My feelings exactly. Anyway, I used to be a The Body Shop at Home consultant so when she's a bit older, I'll do my own for none of the cost!!!7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
What about the 50 pots of playdoh for £5 that Woolworths were doing. I think they've increased their price now but someone mentioned John Lewis were selling them at £5. Buy a few cutting and modelling accessories and she'll be in messy heaven.
My daughter is 8 and still loves this kind of thing (when I feel brave enough to let her use it!!):smileyhea0 -

Bit more expensive but .... my five year old LOVED her nintendo DS, and you can buy DS games to play for many birthdays/christmasses to come. My 7 year old loved hers too and me and my hubby are often found playing them once the kids are in bed. You can justify the expense by buying a BRAIN TRAINING game - or do what I did and get nintendogs - thats a great game!!!:j:rotfl: :rotfl:
Quite keen moneysaver......0
