If poppycod was trying to add information a PM to myself asking me to add it in would have been much better. I'll await the reply to my PM and amend if needed.
Originally that post read 'where is northampton in the cinema list' and it was then changed to what it reads now
Oh! So it did, my apologies. I first looked at your post using phone when still haf asleep and didn't scroll to the bottom of post as I already have tickets. I wrongly assumed that they added that part. In that case it makes no sense whatsoever, especially when they posted about it in discussion (probably removed by now) and have edited to say the post was in wrong forum! Curiouser and curiouser :eek:0 -

You may find it hard at first as 2 people poochface and geordieben think that the forum is just for themselves and call people morons but dont let that put you off.
I've always found Poochface helpful... even if she's a bit obsessed with Heartbreaker.

Hi
I have tickets for tomorrow's screening of Psycho, but I wanted to check if it is definitely free? I've just been listening to Kermode's podcast and they said it was for the charity CARE international. On their website (http://www.concertforcare.com/screening/) they are selling the tickets for £20!
Is it a bit wrong to go to a charity screening which is trying to raise money without paying?0 -

Well I just got another email saying:
EMPIRE CINEMAS & SEE FILM FIRST INVTE YOU TO A UNIQUE ONE OFF EVENT ON SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER AT 9.30 am...
ALFRED HITCHCOCK's 'PSYCHO'
A rare opportunity to see Hitchcock's seminal classic on one of the best screen in the UK. Released in 1960, Psycho changed cinema forever, pushing the boundaries of screen horror and providing some of the best-known scenes in all movies. Bernard Herrmann's score is simply one of the greatest film scores ever created & the film will be introduced by Bernard Herrmann's widow Norma.
This screening forms part of David Arnold's Concert for CARE, a major event at the Royal Albert Hall on October 18th featuring some of the biggest names in film music. Many of the composers, including David Arnold, John Ottman, Harry Gregson-Williams, John Powell, George Fenton, Rachel Portman and Dario Marianelli will also attend the Psycho screening and will take part in an exclusive Q&A on film scoring following the Psycho screening.
TICKETS NORMALLY PRICED AT £20 but we have a few complimentary tickets.
To download tickets: https://www.showfilmfirst.com/pin/615615'.
However, I have the same reservation as you about going to a charity screening for free and wonder if they are going to ask us for a donation when we get there.“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”

I'm not bothered either way about clowns but the one in The Hole 3D had me worried too:eek: :rotfl: Didn't you love the way they used the 3D? The way you saw things going down the hole but then they were coming at you. It was so weird to see something coming at you from the bottom so to speak.
I don't have children so can't speak with any authority but isn't it good for children to experience horror in a safe environment?
Got to agree with you about Back to the Future though I don't think it can be faulted though I'm willing to bet someone will
I totally agree...horror in a safe environment is the best way to introduce children in my opinion. Daughter also started to watch 'The Others' one day at work with me recently (Y11 media project...how they set the scene etc) and she absolutely loved it and can't wait to finish watching it - unlike some of the Y11 who wish they could get out of it! (Although she thinks the little girl/old woman bit is 'freaky')geordie_ben wrote: »I thought the hole was terrible! the special effects and acting could have been better done by a 15 year old on a school computer. quite a pointless movie, which fingers crossed didnt, but be seemed to be left open for a sequal **vommits**
one or two jumpy bits, but c'mon if the noise level goes really quiet then all of a sudden is really loud, of course you're going to jump.
1/10 for me!
You should try watching with a 12 year old whispering her fear to you! It is what it is...teen horror although I think my 15 would argue the word horror! He would highly recommend 'Devil' though - especially to watch with a girl...say no more!0 -
Have to say after all the hype...was really looking forward to seeing this film. I remember seeing the very first trailer AGES ago...with the boy bouncing off the pyramid...and thinking that looks fab!
So we trekked to the wonders of Hull and arrived before the masses. Finally got into the cinema to munch on free popcorn (much appreciated as hadn't had tea!) in the luxury seats.
While there were some moments that brought a smile the only genuine laugh out loud moments for me and OH were the minions at the end just before the creditsMaybe we were just tired and hungry - but much preferred TS3.
That said the storyline was OK and the kids seemed to enjoy it (both scored it 1/2 a mark lower than TS3!)
I just couldn't get over why Steve Carell had chosen to make Gru sound like the Meerkat from the tv ads!:p
Very annoying when people were walking in VERY late and hunting for seats in what has to be the darkest screening I have ever been to.:(
Glad everyone else seems to have loved it though...I quite like being the odd one out!:cool:0 -

I personally loved it and thought the voice fitted the character and the kids are begging to go see it again, they liked TS3 but not with the same enthusiasm.
......but wouldn't it be a boring world if we all liked the same thing!!:hello:0
