We had tickets The Social Network last night (11th October) but when we got to the Cinema (Cardiff) they said that the film was not out till Friday, did anyone else have this problem? So in effect despite having tickets, there was no film showing.0

Did you go to the Box Office with the printout? That reponse sounds like something the Box Office staff would say.
When you go to a preview you need to take the printout to the people who take the tickets. They take the printout, issue any goodies like 3D glasses or popcorn etc and tell you the number of the screen it is showing on. Sometimes, you wil get a member of staff who isn't aware what to do with a preview printout, in that case, you are best to ask to speak to a team leader or the projectionist.
Cardiff are fairly regular on the preview circuit so there should be cinema staff who know how it works. I have a friend who goes to previews in Cardiff reguarly.0 -
On Monday I saw Despicable Me - and thoroughly enjoyed it.
On Tuesday I had tickets to Social Network ( thanks again Poochface) but really didn't want to go.....
I had read the story line, and inadvertantly read some of the feedback.
I reluctantly went along, expecting to be bored out of my mind..... but maybe be able to catch up on an hour or so sleep.
It was brilliant, I loved it !!
The screening was packed, and I mean packed.
Staff were wandering around just before it started to try and locate any spare seats.
Most people arriving in the last 15 minutes ( still before 6.30 kick off) had to sit separately.... inc me and ds, it was 100% full.... and they may have had to turn others away outside.
I found the beginning quite confusing because there was 3 different stories going on at once, and across different times.
But, I was absolutely hooked.
I am not on Facebook, nor any of those types of sites, so I had no 'personal' interest or knowledge at all.
Heard comments beforehand slating Timberlake..... well I thought he was fine.
In fact apart from the first minute when I heard whispers around me "didn't realise HE was in it" type of thing, I forgot he was anything other than a 'regular actor'.
I was so absorbed by the film, I was completely taken up in the storyline and holding on for the outcome.
I didn't know anything about the people in real life, or if this story is widely known.
Worst bit was the scenes in Britain, I will say no more as I don't want to spoil it.
But this was the weakest past of the whole film for me..... I cannot see what it brought to the storyline, unless it was just an opportunity for the US audience to have a laugh at our stereotypical portrayal.:(
This is another reason why I love these Free Previews - apart from going to the cinema for free of course.;)
I would NEVER have gone to see this if I had had to pay.
I would NEVER have rented the dvd.
I would probably NEVER have bothered to watch it on TV.....
So glad I didn't give into temptation and stay home.
Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT
Despicable Me = 8/10
Social Network = 9/10
Only worry is, the standard cannot stay this high for ever0 -
Finally it seems that the Chilean miners are about to be rescued, a medic has started his journey in the capsule, the journey is expected to take around 15 minutes. He will examine the men to make sure they are fit to go up and in the order already decided. Hopefully, by the time I get up quite a lot of these brave men will be on the surface rather than underground.
It occurs to me that this extraordinary happening will make a wonderful film. It has everything; the collapse of the earth, the horror that so many men had been lost, the jubilation that they were all still alive and the joy that the men would have felt that they were to be rescued. All the work to find the men underground and the rescue, hopefully without any losses. On top of all that is the personal/family aspect; there are five men who will find themseves in trouble with their wives because they were found to have had girlfriends too:eek:.
There is so much I wonder if it would fit in just one film.0 -

I just wondered how annoyed the rescuers were going to be when they got down there and the only thing down there was a Krusty the Clown walkie talkie which Bart Simpson had planted down there :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
But on a more serious note, saw Social Network last night. I really enjoyed it. Nice story, some very funny bits, only thing I would have liked was to see more about the Mark and CFO (cant remember his name) relationship afterwards. saw the credit notes bit but more movie would have been nice
