Also, what's the betting that there'll be a payout limit so the chances are you'll likely to get 1 tyre replaced at any one time.

    Hi all
Does anybody have any experience of tyre insurance?
Buying a 1yr old BMW and have been offered BM insurance for 300..
A new run flat is 140
    Any advice/comments welcome.

    Andy

Are you an unfortunate type of person who gets lots of punctures? If so it might be worthwhile, but to break even you will need to have at least three punctures during the period of insurance. I've only had two punctures in the last 7 years so it wouldn't be cost effective for me!

Also, have you checked online for the best price on runflat tyres - is £140 the best price you can get for a new tyre?

There was an article in Auto Express a few weeks ago about a guy who owned a 530i and paid £300 for tyre insurance. He hit a pothole and ruined 2 tyres. His claim was rejected because his runflats has not suffered "sudden deflation". Errr runflats don't suddenly deflate muppets. But with Auto Express involved they agreed to payout on a "goodwill basis."

    Proof then that:

    (1) The salesmen are lying gits for selling useless cover for runflatted Beemers = most of the model range
    (2) The dealership are in cohorts too and are sharks
    (3) BMW sell a useless product
    (4) The underwriters are selling a useless product
    The man without a signature.
  • I thought I'd share my experience.

I bought tyre insurance for my BMW 3 series and it covers the car for 5 tyres up to £300 each. My tyres are run flats and cost around £225-320 depending on where you get them from and whether they are front or rear. In the last 2 and a half years, I've had 3 punctures (2 rear one front), the last one being last week. All punctures were in the tyre wall and therefore not repairable. The insurance company replaced all 3. I have to reinsure each tyre once it's replaced but this costs me £4.50 each time.

I had never had so many punctures so almost didn't take out the insurance, but it only cost about £300 and included repairs to the alloys. The salesman quite rightly pointed out that if I had one puncture I'd be covered.

Quite honestly it's the best insurance I've ever bought.
