Hi everyone. We had heavy rain till mid afternoon and then it cleared. DH has just taken ds out in the car for the first time. My turn will come!
I have revived my vinylised cream cotton table cloth that I thought I would have to bin, so pleased about that. that will save some ££
Did a quick whizz round Aldi this morning, trying to just get stuff for fairly imminent needs, attempting to do dinners from stuff in the freezer. Still need to get F&V, dairy etc.
Have made a cassoulet (sausage at request of DH) using sausages from the freezer, bacon from freezer and beans and lentils from the freezer...oh, red wine from the freezer as well.
Got a carrot cake out of the freezer and did some cream cheese frosting. Will have that for pud.
Got ahead with bread making, so getting a few butties stashed for when time is short.
DH cleared the attic this week, so pair of speakers, sky box, freeview box gone on freegle - one bloke lives over the road!- and a bike from the garage as well. I need to do some serious clearing as well.
Strictly was fab, need to get the knitting out tho if I"m gonna be watching telly."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Afternoon all, and what a soggy one it is

I agree with midnight raven I don't drink tea often enough to have a teapot but it is very civilised
Sunday is normally the only day we eat all together at the table as well, but a special request has been put in for roast on a tray by the family so that we can watch the Emperors New Groove. Normally I would point out that we have sky + but as the "children" (15 & 23) have actually managed to get on with each other this week I will let it go this once
.
Last nights fakeaway was a resounding success :jeven I enjoyed it lol. Have just made some garlic and ginger paste ready for making a basic curry sauce tomorrow, and after this coffee will iron DS school uniform for the week and then mealplan for the week as have got some ys leeks for soup but no room in the freezers! It's all very well making all this stuff but I really think we should eat some of it :rotfl::rotfl:
Hugs and spoons to those in need x
Best wishes to all x

:hello:Hi all.
Just sneaking in quickly for a bit (I'm supposed to be checking if there are any planning applications on pubs in the area, for our CAMRA branch)
Happy Birthday Master Glasgow.
We're possibly going to Stratford-on-Avon tomorrow (and maybe a quick look in Lakeland while we're there);) and Tuesday, Mr LW wants to go to the cinema, to see "Resident Evil: Afterlife". I suggested if we're going, it should be Tuesday, as that's the day the prices are reduced; and we only pay for 1 ticket, with my CEA card, so shouldn't be too expensive.
Made one of my infamous quiches for our dins, and there's enough for tomorrow too, so won't have to cook after being out all day; and I sent Mr LW outside to "hoover" the back lawn, in between showers. It was getting very long!
I've had some goosegogs out of the freezer to defrost, with the idea of making gooseberry fool. They're the lovely sweet red ones, of my little gooeberry bush. So I'd better go and get that done.:o
I'll try and pop in again some time during the week, if I get chance.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon folks
Well fetched the DGNeice so she coud bake with me, she is a really well behaved, mannered 8 year old, and is very good a creaming butter and sugar together, and also had a fair go at rubbing in.
We made Weetabix brownies, a Milk Chocolate cake from the Bero Book, a date a walnut loaf from the Bero Book, and then some Millies Cookies from the a recipe on here. I also put a batch of bread dough in the BM, so she could have a go at kneeding. Then her M&D turned up with 17 month old DGNephew, boy is he lively, but has a real cheeky grin with it. We sat and had a natter while DH then played on the Wii with GDNeice.
I understand that baking is on the cards again as well as showing her to knit, crochet and sew! Think I will be kept busy quite a while.
:bdaycake: Master G
I then made a couple of batched of scones in the FP, one to top the mince I did yesterday to make a cobbler for tea tonight, and other fruit ones, for DH to "grab and run" with.
I have put our name down for the free Solar Panels, and was telling DNephew, so he sent his application off on-line as he has a south facing roof. Keeping our fingers crossed we are suitable.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
What a washout of a Sunday! although it has now decided to stop raining and even saw the sun for a bit about half hour ago.
OH has gone off to work, hate it when he has to go off on a Sunday, feel like I have been cheated out of my weekend
Am going back to work tomorrow so have got some soup out of the freezer and will cook a half baked roll in the morning to take with me.
Will put another pot of soup on in the slow cooker in the morning to keep my stocks for work up.
Apart from that, not really done a lot today apart from the usual DW, WM, TD etc etc. Have spent the time since OH went watching Casualty from last night and reading.
Better have an early night tonight, going to take me ages to walk to work after all that time off.whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Afternoon all
Not posted since I came back from holiday last weekend as I have been trying to catch up both at home and at work ever since.
Finally feel back on top of my jobs today. It has poured down all day here today too but that put me in the mood for a cooking/baking day so good news I suppose.
Cooked roast beef sunday lunch with all trimmings. Whilst oven was on made a couple of quiches, 2 orange drizzle cakes (no lemons and had some oranges that needed using up), a batch of twinks. Also made bolognaise sauce (with extra grated carrot to make it go further) for tea tomorrow, froze a couple more portions of it, and made a shepherds pie (grated carrot strikes again!!!) to go in the freezer too. Made carrot and coriander soup with rest of bag of carrots, which will be frozen too for work lunches along with the quiches. Also made extra portions of mash to go in freezer as they will come in handy for quick teas. Feel much more organised now thank goodness:D
So tonight I am going to relax and watch the second part of the X Factor and maybe do a bit of crocheting.
Hugs to anyone who needs it and well done where appropriate - I will try and catch up properly with all the news tomorrow - too tired tonight!

Evening all
I've had a lovely day :j. Lunch was great, and Back to the Future was brill on the big screen
. I was very surprised that there were only 6 other people in the cinema! This was an iconic film of my childhood, I was only 3 when it came out but grew up with it, so we thought the cinema would be full! It's out for a week if anyone else want's too see it!
All in all I've had a fab weekend

Poured with rain most of the day so we had a quiet relaxing time with dd doing homework and her older sister working on a presentation for work tomorrow.
Made a late meal around 4p.m. home made potato and leek soup to start, then roast potatoes, home made lamb burgers with broccoli , carrots and cabbage which everyone seemed to enjoy.
We are about to watch X factor with a cup of tea and then sort out new lights tomorrow if DH will drive to retail centre while the sales are on. Can't wait to get the house feeling like "ours"."This site is addictive!"
