Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 2nd October 2010 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

  • Morning all feels like i havent even been to sleep :( i love my kids i do but i'd love them more if they'd only sleep later at weekends! Roll on tomorrow when i have to wake them for school.
Well the rains bouncing here and DD wet the bet last night so look like dryer time :( although the birds are enjoying the puddles just been watching a couple of them bathe even though it made me go ahhhhh! it doesnt make up for the fact i have to dry the washing indoors.
Pork, mash, broccoli, springgreens, carrots and yorkshire puds for tea today :)
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

BB - your tea sounds lovely - can we all come too?!!! Only cos I've not thought about tea and with my eldest with conjunctivitus (and me too!) and my youngest with Geographical tongue (sore spots all over his tongue - resulting in screaming every time he is slightly awake!) I've not got anything out of the freezer. OH is on the other sofa snorning like a train. I've got one dog half sat on me, another on my toes - and I've never seen it rain so much. Got to get organised for the month ahead. Will have another coffee and then get to it.

TDs across the country will be on all day I think.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning:D

    Raining like mad here too:o
Am making some chocolate buns ready for DS coming back this morning.
I need to clean the hamster and the cat tray....yuk....she is in disgrace this morning as she left a bit of poo on the landing which I stood in, in bare feet:eek:..she seems to be developing a problem with this now she is old...how delightful.
Then I want to get all the veg prepped for tea. We are having roast belly pork, mash, swede, runner beans and gravy ...and prob yorkshires for DS;). Then apple and blackberry crumble.
Feeling relieved that I have sorted my wedding music out at last!( see yesterdays thread)
Once DS gets back will curl up and watch dvd with him in the warm or read with him. I like to have all jobs sorted before he gets back so I am free to be with him.
We have also sorted our 2 day mini honeymoon( dont want to leave DS any longer than that:o) We are going here
http://www.yorebridgehouse.co.uk/ not very OS but it is our honeymoon!

Can`t believe it is only 9 weeks till we get married. Am starting to panic in a way as I hate being the centre of attention and all that but will have to cope with it for a day I guess...well half a day as we dont get married till 4pm;)
Well off to get these jobs sorted, have a good day all and stay dry:cool::rotfl:
  • Not wishing to gloat, but it's not raining here :o:D Which is just as well as I left my washing out yesterday when I came to work (overnighter shift) and I bet no-one else thought to bring it in  It rainined a LOT here last night, so hopefully the tiny bit of sun this morning will undo some of the damage :)

Not planning on doing a lot today, but have got dinner already prepared from a bulk batch, which is something. Still new to this OS stuff, so baby steps and all that :D

    Morning my lovelies :D

Not posted for a couple of days as I've just not had a moment.
Did my tap show last night and Friday night. There is one pic of me on FB that's clear so it's on my wall. Not very exciting mind as it was the rock and roll number so I am a "boy" wearing a shirt and tie LOL.
Anyway kids woke at 5am and had to settle them back off to sleep. Feel like I've got a hangover without the fun drinking part :( I think it's just a combination of not enough food, busy week and probably a wee bit of dehydration - was soooooo hot at the little theatre.

Anyway I really need to get a move on as it's DS's birthday party today and I need to pop out and get some more sweets I think.

Tea tonight? Not sure - have some left over beef from Thursday - been in the fridge - do you think it's still OK to whip into a cottage pie???
Peeing it down here, weather has been truly vile - hope next week picks up more.

OK really need to dash - try and catch up with the missed threads later.
Hugs, spoons and high fives to everyone. Have a good Sunday OS or not.

    AAAARGGGGGHHHHH It's still raining!

    Morning All

Hope you all feel better soon BB and ESMF. You're doing well NPM, the music is great! JackieO you must be glad that your arm is improving, hope it continues.

I think I should tackle some paperwork this morning, haven't even opened the mail that came this week, hope there's nothing important!

Making a pot of chicken and rice soup, had the slow cooker on overnight with the chicken carcass in so I have some nice stock to get it going and anything else I have today will be leftovers from the last couple of days.

Take care all and have a good Sunday, seems like you will all need wetsuits and flippers if you are venturing out! XX

    Morning all

Raining here too :( but has eased off from the torrential rain last night!

Really enjoyed Strictly last night, but thought X Factor was kinda boring. Looking forward to tonight's though.

WM has been on, not sure how well it is going to dry indoors with no heating on but I have no idea how to use my TD :rotfl: and don't really want to start using it. Luckily I live on top floor of 4 so I get everyone else's heat ;). DW will go on after breakfast.

Today I'm meeting the girls for lunch (again!) but one of our best friends is coming. She lives in Bristol so will be great to catch up :D. We were meant to meet up last week but she was ill. We are going to a pub in town that has Sunday dinners and normal menu. Then, after lunch, we are hopefully going to see Back To The Future in the cinema :j:j:j. It's been re-released for the 25th anniversary. It's one of my fav films ever so I can't wait to see it on the big screen. Just hoping the tickets aren't sold out yet, we getting them before lunch for 4pm showing so finger's crossed!

    Have a great day all

Bitsy just sniff / taste the beef if its okay i'd use it.
Jackie glad your arm's feeling a bit better!

Well its lashing down again, its soo horrible.
The heatings on again to dry the clothes, honestly i can't get anything dry with out it.

Today its a mad rush of getting DS1's things together ready for tomorrow for his Carlton trip. If sorted (and the rain stops) then we might go to the car boot sale for a nosey about.

Not sure what's for dinner / tea, but prob will be either pasta or rice.

    Have a splashing day all!
