What sweets is it? Not that I have one mind you :o

Can you post a pic - yours might not look as bad as you think.

You can create labels on www.picnik.com, I've personally not tried it but a couple of the posters on here have and for basic level it's free.

macpep1 - no this is not normal and it is expensive - I personally think £10 for a school fair for 3 hours is enough to charge and I won't pay more than this as it's not worth my while. The charge for your fair may be high because it is an organised Craft Fair rather than a school fair for which they may require your details for insurance purposes.

I'd contact all your local schools, look on supermarket notice boards and in local shop windows and in your local free newspaper for something cheaper as you have to basically take that out of any money you make that day and £45 would mean you might make nothing and might even run at a loss!

I have to agree that £45 is very expensive for a craft fayre. The most I have paid is £20 (which I thought was steep) and so I shared a table with a friend to cut the cost.

where did you buy the metal skewers? I've been thinking about making some of these the ones shown before looked brilliant :)
  • Oh Macpep!!! That's such a shame :( And your items are so good too. My fingers are crossed that you will find somewhere else where you can sell your wares - Good Luck! :)

AS for metal skewers, we have some for our braai (bbq) which I think we got from £land, during bbq season, you can also try Argos, I seem to remember they DID have some but can't say for definite if they still do, either that or good ol' Ebubby :D

Yes I thought £45 was a bit much, its on every Saturday & Sunday so is an organised Craft Fair and she said that was the price for the weekend so perhaps that is for the two days, but I don't want that, I will wait and see if the School one gets back to me, failing that, I am going to try the car boot again this Sunday as I have told Hubby the kids and I will stay at home this weekend as they would be bored anyway so may as well be bored at home than in the caravan!

She grinch i'm not sure why it hasn't worked as i have e-mailed a copy to about 30 people now and it seems ok. I'll try sending it you again tonight when i get home and see if it works better.

  • Hi Everyone,

Macpep - sorry to hear about the boot sale.

Well the crafting is taking over the house :D

I have a room dedicated to my sewing and craft which is chocka block, the bed in the other spare room is cover in ironed fabric awaiting cutting out and the lounge table is absolutely swamped in lavender, fabric, ribbon, scissors, pre-printed labels, cellophane bags and finished items.

I spent all day Saturday splitting my time between my sick hubby who had some horrible gastric bug and my craft room - working on my cricut - cutting out waxed paper templates for printing designs onto bottle bags and aprons and also to use as cutting templates for felt tree decs and lavender hearts. I also did lots of ironing and cutting out fabric for the bottle bags, lavender bath salts, lavender hearts, etc. I worked out a design for the elf christmas boots - just the cutting out to do now! Cutting out fabric takes so much time - if anyone has any tips - let me know.

Yesterday, I felt I had to get cracking actually getting some things finished! I managed to make 20 lavender bags, 12 candy cane gifts and 3 felt robin christmas tree decs yesterday.

I have got some stuff cut out now ready to make up: elf christmas boots, lollipop covers, more felt tree decs, Xmas aprons ready to print, bottle bags to print and make up and an advent calendar to finish - all before Thursday! Phew!

The epsom salts arrived today so I have made up the lavender bath salts and have left it to develop ready to fill organza bags this weekend. I am waiting for the flannels to arrive for the cupcakes which I want to get cracking with as these will be faster makes (than a fabric advent calender which is taking me hours and hours to make - although I plan to charge £24 for it because of this).

I have put some time aside tomorrow afternoon to get some more done and will take some photos to share then.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
