  • Didn't realise the log was old. Is 2.04 better? I still use 2.02 and it does the job so keep posting that but...

I assume each new version of HJT has been tweaked to detect the latest malware so the latest version should always be used.

not that I'm aware of .....

I didn't realise the hijack this was an old version - I've updated now:o

Uninstall ASK toolbar first from add and remove in control panel. Find anything related to ASK?
Then rerun malwarebytes with FULL SCAN. Will probably take about an hour or two.

Also what program is not responding?

    Firefox - and google

  • When did you carry out the hijack this scan? Is your computer date settings wrong?

Firefox not responding is not ideal but lets make sure your computer is not infected first. We will be waiting for the full malwarebytes log and could you run a fresh
    hijack this log too?

    Thanks for your replies everyone.

Problem not gone away - although machine is speedier this morning it keeps freezing and not responding - whilst typing this it freezes and I can carry on typing - it catches up eventually.

When did you carry out the hijack this scan? Is your computer date settings wrong?

no - setting is right -I'm not sure what happened there - the older date was in brackets - but it was scanned last night.

I can't find the ASK toolbar - not sure if it's been removed with all the faffing but it isn't in programs.... or RSIT

    Will do new HiJack

He/She still isn't using the latest version of Hijack This either, the log says Version 2.0.2 despite the OP saying that they had downloaded the latest version I previously linked to.

yes - the date and time is right on computer. However, I've just run hijack this again - then it says 'save' clicked 'yes' and the date is as shown? Just uninstalled Hijack this and will reinstall and do again.
