  • I just checked out the nectar website as I was curious as to my points for doing my order through them and this is what I found in the T&C

So hope this helps, I did my last order through the Nectar site as I figured I wasn't losing out :

Nectar points are awarded on qualifying transactions completed online on the retailer’s site, only when accessed exclusively from Nectar.com. Unless specified otherwise, points will be awarded within 28 days of delivery.

Thanks for this :) wonder why it takes 28 days for the points to be awarded for?? oh well not as if im complaining good way of getting more points as I always forget to use my nectar card half the time!!
  • Maybe they allow for people sending items back with Avon's no quibble guarantee. My Nectar points I earned with Amazon have already been awarded

Good point! never thought of that.

Are you going back the same day to pick up the brochures? if so, how do you know they have been 'left out' vs. just the person not even having come home yet to take in the book? I always go back for mine the day after i drop them off.

You might consider knocking on doors late one Saturday afternoon. That gives you a lot of good info. You can see how people react to 'the avon lady', whether they are unsure, really NOT interested, or pleased. I have been able to save a lot of time that way. I know exactly which houses to really not bother with. :D

Thanks for your reply J.avon. I post the brochures through the letter box and when I have been back they are outside waiting for me.

I think I will try knocking next weekend as I still have quite a few houses to get round. I had a couple of problems this weekend when I went back to collect brochures. One lady who my SL told me had ordered before was very rude and swore at me in front of my kids and told me where to go in not a very nice way! I assume she had been let down by the previous rep but didn't hang around long enough to find out! Two more brochures had been thrown away. I also had a few people telling me there is another rep who has been doing it for years and they order from her. I guess I need to check with my SL as I don't want to be taking another reps clients...

On the plus side though I have had 3 orders from my neighbours totalling around £55. Three more ladies have asked for longer to look at their brochures so I am going back Wednesday and MIL wants to order from me rather than a rep she has had problems with who charged postage of £2.50 to return earrings (is this right)?

That's fine - if you get anybody tell you that they already have a rep, just make a note in your call book not to drop to them.

I usually say that they may still get a book from me every 3/4 months when I recanvas, but that this will give them the opportunity to use me as a rep if their existing rep decides to stop doing Avon.

TNCL1975, sorry, haven't been around to reply as lost my engagement ring and am still devastated. However have now told DH who is insistent that we will find it. :)

MarsdenCuckoo, who is away on holiday at the mo, always suggest door knocking first. She says stand with your Avon book at chest level, so they can see it, a big smile on your face and engage with the person at the door. That way you can find out if they are interested in Avon, but don't want a book right now, never want an avon book, or already have a rep. Plus with them talking you directly, they may be more inclined to buy as they will see the face behind the book and you can tell them a bit about yourself.

Did you say you have little ones? If so, do they go to preschool, playgroups, school, etc?

Can you DH take a book to work? Family members take books for you? Friends take books for you?

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your reply. I really hope you find your ring :(

I do have 2 children age 3 and almost 2. My daughter is going to Preschool in January so hopefully I will start meeting other Mums then. At the moment I don't really know many people here apart from 3 neighbours who have all placed orders:)

My DH has taken a brochure into work but I think someone else there is a rep.

I'm hoping to work on some leaflets introducing myself and would like to mention something about previous reps letting them down and that I will be reliable but I'm not sure how to word it...

I'm going to spend tonight working out a plan of things to do and may offer a free gift on orders over £15 like some have on here.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it :D

Are you new to the area? If so, register with netmums.com for your local area. Find out who is doing netmums meetups in your area and find out when the next meet is. Go along with your Little Ones, you will get to meet some other Mums, which is nice and while you are getting to know them, tell them you are an Avon Rep. Don't force a book on them or ram Avon down their throat. But now they know, if they are interested, they make ask you for a book, or remember in future and ask you.

Some of the Chairmums are doing Xmas activities and asking for things like donations from Avon Reps or Usborne Books, or Bodyshop reps, etc. So yours might be one of these, or she might be having a xmas fayre or a christmas party and having stands and you might be able to attend.

Also you can advertise on the what's on and the jobs board, you are an Avon rep, and that you are taking orders for Xmas.

This way you get to meet a few new people, hopefully make some friends and get some new customers too!

Hi All, I need some advice please on a couple of orders I have received and I really want to get it all right.

I am a new rep since Monday and my first order needs to be in 23/11 and it is for C18. I have also been given C17 brochures which I am handing out too. I am trying to make sure that a whole road gets the same book.

Anyway my query is that I gave my neighbour C17 and I have been given her order today but she kept the book as she is at her Mums who also wants to order something. When I looked the items up they were not on the pages they said. I then checked C18 and again I couldn't find anything.

I had picked up some C16 brochures that had been left by the previous rep and that’s where the order comes from. I have found all but 1 product in C17 and items are different prices. One item was £2.50 in C16 but now full price in C17 but you get a free gift if ordered. The product I couldn't find in C17 is the essential pedicure but it is in C18 so I assume that I can order from there.

Also am I right in saying that if I get orders from C17 but they are cheaper in C18 then I can get them from that brochure but still charge C17 price?

I had another order and they had missed the fact that they get a free gift so I pointed this out and they were really happy as they didn't realise. What do you usually do if someone hasn't written down a freebie?

I hope all this makes sense as I’m not great at explaining things and I hope that someone can help me.

    Many thanks
  • Is it me or does avon seem quite calming when you seem really p'ed off?? Just getting out of the house away from things

I certainly never said anyone should go stealing other people's customers. That is why i specifically said, ask the people on the streets when the last time they saw an Avon lady was... if no one has seen one and no one has a book, then why not offer them one? if you get several people in a row saying they have seen someone, or they order from someone, then obviously give that street a miss.

if people decide to take time off that's fine, i'm sure their customers will still mention to anyone knocking that there is another avon rep who usually comes by.

but the Avon territory allocation system is completely unreliable, as is evidenced by numerous posts here. I really think reps have a right to ask around, and if a street isn't covered, then why not cover it. The same thing is happening to reps in reverse - they get told a street is NOT covered, and it is! I would trust asking the residents of the street more than I would trust Avon's system at this point.
