Primrose said:heat pumps are diabolically expensive and very cumbersome to install. I can see massive public resistance. I also foresee, shortly before new gas central heating boilers are banned, a massive rush by the public to buy a new one.!Be kind to others and to yourself too.4

I have been wfh this week and the heating has been on constantly. No man is worth crawling on this earth.

I'm finding with the damp and the cold the only time I can get warm all over is under the duvet with a hot water bottle. That venue, with a bedroom TV/radio has been a real comfort this winter. I can't help remembering the people of Ukraine and the hardships and uncertainties they're suffering on a daily basis.

@nursemolly glad you managed to get your heating on.
@Rosa_Damascena know what you mean about the damp always making it feel colder we've had freezing fog for most of the day for the last four days and it is now raining. My central heating has been on constantly lately as being a pensioner i am home all day most days when the weather is bad.5 -
I agree the sun makes so much difference, I made my way into London last night and as soon as I got to West Ham to get off the train it started raining. Brr. I was glad to get home later.
I also think being in bed under the covers is the best way to warm up. I started feeling very cold yesterday afternoon and got a hot water bottle and had to put the heating on again. The guy painting our house said he was sweating, but then apparently his house is far colder than mine!6 -

Cold and dull, been out walking for several hours, still some icy spots on the lanes. Lounge 7.6 when I came in but today is the start of a new quarter so the fan heater is on 2kw. Compared to Aug/Sept/Oct (which was a low 366 units) usage for Nov/Dec/Jan is over 100% higher (846 units) - I suppose lights were on far more often, far higher percentage of hot meals instead of cold, many more cups of tea, shower has to be set a bit higher etc and a bit of fan heater3

Yep,our heating is on. I’ll just some more coal and wood in there! 🤣 that’ll warm this room.3

The heating isn't on today and I have my windows open as it is sunny. It feels very mild at the moment.2025 GOALS

Currently off here too thankfully. Our January meter readings confirm we just managed to keep within our monthly budget despite heavier use on the very cold days. Not being complacent about February though.
