Don't think I've had the gas CH on since early May and that was only once or twice. Good because my last quarterly gas bill was over £200! :o

  • It's cold, wet and miserable day today here in Scotland, tempted to put the heating on, but trying to see if my electric blanket can get me warm to start with....brrrrrr.

I have had to use my hwb twice at night this week (as well as sleeping under the usual 2x15 togs + soft blanket).

And now its forecast to be another wet week. What happened to the three scorching months predicted? I want my money back!!

I am changing to octopus for both gas and electricity, getting a 2 year fix. Jumper on yesterday and windows closed as the storm hit. It is going to feel like a pretty short summer this year, flaming june, my eye

My reconciliation bill came in and basically my DD needs to go out up from £104 to £147! I live in a four bedroom house with occasional guests such as lodgers or theatre diggers.

I`m going to have to really rein it in this year. I didn`t think I was being extravagent but have the CH on during the day in the winter when it`s cold etc

So the CH is definitely off and will have to monitor its use far more carefully :(

This house is an ice box.....:rotfl:

I only moved in last September and for saying it was a relatively mild winter my heating bills were astronomical. There is hardly any insulation so basically I'm heating up the street. It's also solid brick, no cavity and two of the windows are single glazed.

This summer I shall definitely have to sort out some insulation at the very least. My odd job builder was here this morning and I mentioned it to him and he said he would be happy to do it. Also secondary glazing, hopefully this summer and, as I decorate each room, I shall be looking at insulating the outside walls.

I am already stockpiling extra thick curtains when I see them in the charity shops, and have bought draft excluder strips. Need to get energy efficient bulbs in too.

I currently pay £100 a month but it's not been enough over the winter, I'm technically in the red at the moment. I'll see what happens over the summer but I shall be coming to the end of a two year fix with Ovo in September so I'll shop around and try and get a good deal.

The weather is not too bad here, luckily!

I did have to put on some warm socks last week, but the heating is still off.
